Ok, this is the easy way to get yummy fudge-frosted brownies. Make a box of brownies, any brand will do, but Duncan Hines makes a delicious fudge brownie. Add a little vanilla and, if you have it, a teaspoon of espresso powder or instant coffee granules, to the batter. This will bring out the chocolate flavor. Bake according to package directions. Let cool completely in the pan. Make the fudge frosting from scratch and top the cooled brownies. The homemade frosting is easy to make and really makes the boxed brownies taste homemade.
FUDGE FROSTING:
2 (1 oz.) squares unsweetened chocolate
1/4 c. butter
3 1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar
1/3 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Melt chocolate and butter together in top of double boiler or microwave, let cool. Add powdered sugar and milk to chocolate mixture, beating until smooth. Stir in vanilla.
Makes 2 cups.
Good luck!
