The Eurostar is a passenger train that will get you to Paris from London very quickly but do not get this confused with the EuroTunnel, which is the train shuttle service that also allows cars and coaches to travel across the Channel. If you do not wish to take your car abroad or do not like flying, the Eurostar is a great alternative with less hassle and no luggage weight restrictions, plus you arrive in the heart of the city of Paris from the UK in only around two and half hours.

The Louvre was originally a royal palace that was built on the site of an old castle and added to by different Kings, but with the construction of Chateau de Versailles it became obsolete and was then turned into a museum back in the 1700's. There are many fabulous pictures of The Louvre, but most people recognise this Paris landmark by the large glass pyramid that is situated in the central courtyard and serves as the main entrance to the museum.
There is so much history in Paris often you do not know where to start, and with numerous different monuments to visit, you cannot forget visiting the Notre Dame Cathedral that is over 800 years old! Situated on a small island called the Ile de la Cite in the middle of River Seine, its official name is The Notre Dame de Paris, but is often known simply as Notre Dame and is a Gothic cathedral that took nearly 200 years to be complete. It was first started in 1163 during the reign of King Louis VII, but did not get finished until around 1345.
France is well known for its numerous chateaux and castles and one of the main areas that people think of is the Loire region with fabulous castles such as the Chateau Chenonceau, but what many people do not realise is that there are lots of different palaces and chateaux that surround the capital city of Paris in the Ile de France region.

Probably one of the most well known French Museums in Paris is The Louvre, which is famous for the Mona Lisa painting by Leonardo da Vinchi and this place can take at least a day or more to get round to see all the exhibits and you need a pair of walking shoes for this one!
There are the obvious sights to see when on holiday in Paris with the family, such as the Eiffel Tower, but the there are numerous beautiful gardens situated throughout the city that are a great way to relax with a picnic and let the children enjoy themselves on the playgrounds. Many gardens have pony or donkey rides along with merry-go-rounds such as the famous old one at the Jardin du Luxembourg, which is a great thrill for the young children, but for the harder to please teenagers there are specific areas for skating and even activities like table tennis at the Parc Andre-Citroen.
There are thousands of different Paris restaurants and cafes and these will range from the small a bistro to haute cuisine, but the quality of food will be a delight to all, no matter how big or small your budget is. Choosing a restaurant in Paris can give you a real headache, as there are so many different types of cuisine to choose from, and you will be really spoilt for choice deciding where to eat.
