  • Christmas: How the World celebrates this Holiday - Christmas has always been an occasion that every Christian looks forward to, but by Jove, it's not just them today, but people from Australia to Japan who does not want to miss a single bit of the excitement of this big occasion. Although it's Christmas everywhere but the way of celebrating it is very different from each other.
  • How To Instantly Stop Those Food Cravings - Whether it's chocolate or pizza, pasta or Danish, most of us have a food craving we just can't seem to control. Unfortunately, these cravings are rarely for foods that are good for us. We turn to these foods to help tranquilize our anxiety, whether it rises from the stress of day-to-day life or from deeper anxieties that have been with us most of our lives. In either case, there's a new discovery that can bring down your immediate craving within minutes. Yes, in minutes. And you'll be easily able to walk away from the food that's always hounded you. The discovery? It's called Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT for short), and it's provided thousands of people with relief from pain, cravings, and emotional issues.
  • When Intention Is Not Enough - We all have moments when we want to improve something in our lives. Whether it is to lose weight, exercise more, fight less with family, or remember birthdays, the attempt fades into the distance when we are slaves to our stress induced schedules. It is not that easy to add something new to the plate when it is already full. And we all have good intentions. We talk to ourselves constantly about the other things we should be doing. When that little voice inside says, "Easier said than done…" we resign ourselves to doing nothing. Many self help groups profess recognizing the problem as a first step. It may be a vision of better things to come, but it is not a literal step.
  • Weight Loss Sabotage: Managing ANTS - I was fortunate enough to watch some of the Wimbledon final this year. It was such a treat to watch the 2 best tennis players in the world battle it out. But I couldn't help noticing what the commentators said whenever a player missed a shot. Apparently the grass surface had been beaten down, so the missed shots were often attributed to the uneven surface: ". . . the ball skipped on the surface" ". . . the grass is really slick" Or the weather: ". . . the cool temperatures are really bothering him" ". . .
  • Life and Lust in a Leather Skirt - Leather clothing is more popular today than ever before, especially for women. In every type of media, from magazines to movies and television, you'll see women in leather.
  • Boundaries and Forgiveness: One at the Expense of the Other? - In my life and in other peoples"lives, I see people wanting to be forgiving. I see them sacrifice their boundaries. I see them thinking that in order to be forgiving, they need to sacrifice their boundaries. I believe that this is flawed thinking. I have learned and continue to learn that boundaries are a healthy part of our spiritual makeup and contribute to growth. I have had to make a conscious effort to identify my boundaries. I have had to recognize when people have violated my boundaries. And I have had to confront them when they have crossed my boundaries and inform them that they cannot do this again. It has been a process of effort and discomfort. It has shown me how my self-doubt has caused my boundaries to weaken.
  • Is Forgiveness Always Divine? - A child takes birth and brings joy in the life of everyone with his smile. He is always happy himself and at the same time he makes everyone happy. As he grows older he experiences sweet and bitter incidents that encircle his life. The sweet experiences of life remain cherished. But when someone looks back upon the bitter ones, he is frustrated. And he is keen to punish the people responsible for adding bitter experiences in his life.
  • Being an Optimist - Part 2 - ENERGIZATION Now pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start to feel good about yourself. Take a lesson from Step 4, "Practice Emotional Broadcasting," and have a chat with the poor little guy. Help him dispute feeling badly about himself.
  • Top Ten Ways of Increasing Your Emotional Intelligence Now - 1. 'Get it' that all your emotions are OK. We are designed to have emotions. They have a purpose. They are our internal guidance system. We have ignored them. We are taught by our culture and our family to ignore them. Science is now showing us the value of emotion.
  • Take 12 Strokes off Your Golf Game by Overcoming Cathexis with Kenosis - What? - Every summer for the past five or six years I have reread Scott Peck's quirky book about psychiatry and golf, Golf and the Spirit.
  • Need a Change? How to Know for Sure! - You wake up on the wrong side of the bed. You snap at your friends and family. Stress fills your days and when your day is over, and you're exhausted, you can't sleep. Nothing feels quite right. Your zest for life diminishes, and your desire to DO disappears.
  • Win their hearts, Not their Minds - Hey guys, Have you ever heard someone say that women are really emotional? Well, it's true. And actually, everyone is very emotional... whether we like to believe so or not.
  • Thoughts on Playing Your Age - There is a saying in golf - I hope I live long enough to play my age. I've known a few golfers who can attest to this claim. I was reminded of this the other day while reading an obituary about a local golfer who died at the age of 95.
  • We All Feel Better After A Spring Clean! - We all feel better after a spring clean. To be able to enjoy the space that has for so long cluttered the corners, restores a level of energy to ones spirit. As a hypnotherapist, some of the hypnotherapy work I enjoy most is empowering others to clear negative emotions from their past.
  • The Psychological Reality of Positive Thought and Complex Thought - A whole new school of psychiatry has grown up around the development of positive thinking. The key is intercepting negative thoughts. Surprisingly, no matter how positive we think we are, many of us have internal, mostly negative chatter that ties up thecerebral circuits all day long. Much of this chatter is actually pretty idiotic if you stop and listen to it.
  • Weight Loss Challenge: Live in Your Strengths - Has anyone noticed how easy it is to live in our (perceived) limitations and even more dangerously, to let ourselves be defined by them? Last week, when I sent out my newsletter, I got 6 emails almost immediately thanking me for the information and letting me know how much my newsletter is appreciated (ahhh . . . the power of the internet). I also got 1 email asking to be taken off my mailing list :(. Now, my thoughts immediately went to the 1 person who didn't want to be on the list. Since I am used to this phenomenon, I quickly reminded myself of the 16,000+ wonderful subscribers (that's you) who choose to receive my writing and sometimes even write to me in gratitude (Thank you - I read and appreciate each letter :-).
  • Stress Eating: Under Stress, We Say Yes! - Last weekend, I went to a coaching conference in Washington D.C. While I was there, I had very little hunger. As a result, I didn't eat very much the entire weekend. As I thought back on the weekend, I wondered why I had eaten so little. I had few urges to eat and rarely even thought about food.
  • I Have Binge Eating Disorder... Now What? - Are you sick and tired of wondering if your eating habits are normal? What about pondering over and over again why you feel like you aren't fully capable of having the potential to take control of your life? Are you the type of person that finds comfort in food? Does food numb your feelings and make you forget about life for a moment? Do you eat when you are not even hungry? Do you stuff yourself full until you feel sick? If so, you may have Binge Eating Disorder. Although, you probably feel like you are the only one crazy enough to find solace while eating - You are not. In fact, there are about 25 million others who are just like you. Nice to know, isn't it? Now, what is the next step?
  • Are You a Binge Eater? - Ever wonder if you have a serious problem with binge eating? In a recent issue of the Harvard Mental Health Letter, I read a feature article about the treatment of bulimia and binge eating. Bulimia is defined as 2 or more episodes of binge eating (consuming a large amount of food in 2 hours or less) at least twice a week for 3 months. These episodes may be followed by vomiting or purging (with laxatives or diuretics) and may alternate with fasting and compulsive exercising. People who suffer from bulimia often view this behavior as a shameful secret.
