  • Weight Loss: Have You Given Yourself Permission to Succeed? - Many people are successful in every other area of their lives, EXCEPT weight loss. Do you know anyone who is smart, capable and talented, yet stops themselves from the level of success they are capable of? Have you ever questioned yourself in that regard - if I am so smart, why do I keep getting in my own way? Self sabotage is a difficult concept to understand, but an important one in the psychology of weight loss. Success is not a matter of having enough smarts, motivation or discipline. It can be a matter of allowing your own success. Absurd, you say? Why would you not want to be successful? There are benefits of keeping things the way they are . . . of NOT changing. What we want can also be what we fear. For instance, if you lose weight, are you afraid that: . . .
  • Do You Know Your Self Worth? - In order to achieve anything in life, it is important that you know your self worth. Knowing your self worth means that you know that you deserve to be treated a certain way; that you deserve certain things in life simply because you are a human being. Your self worth does not disappear because you made a mistake or failed at something, it is something is inherent in all people and will never fade in quantity or value. How do you realize your self worth? Many people go through their entire lives never fully realizing or their full potential because they do not believe in themselves or their self worth. These people often look to others to enjoy even the smallest tidbit of validation.
  • Type D Personality? - We have all heard of Type A personality types, but have you heard about Type D, or distress, personality? There was an observation made by, Johan Denollet, a Belgian psychologist, of cardiac patients a while back. Denollet noticed that some patients with extensive cardiac problems were optimistic and went through rehabilitation enthusiastically, while others, who had only mild problems were more pessimistic and did not follow rehabilitation activities well. Denollet was interested in the why of this. Out of his work came a 14 question survey designed to determine whether a person has something he termed "distress" personality.
  • How to Have Joy Though Unhappy - I once heard a comedian jest about the idiomatic misuse of words by English speaking people. With tongue in cheek, he spent about fifteen minutes offering some very witty examples. For instance, he pointed out that we call goods transported on the sea CARgo, but those same goods transported on land are called a SHIPment. He then asked the rhetoric question "why do we park in DRIVEways"? He had the audience in stitches as he ran through a list of oxymoronic terms and misplaced words. He received an avalanche of laughs and a hearty round of applause as he cleverly pinged upon how we often use words in contrasting context. Christians are not exempt from making similar mistakes when it comes to words in the Bible. Sometimes we can inadvertently misuse words without even realizing it.
  • Are You Fit Emotionally? - This week, I was surfing the web for ideas for fitness articles and something really caught my attention. It was an article on emotional fitness by Dr.Mathew Anderson called "Fat and Emotional Fitness". What is emotional fitness? Well, it's really about our ability to recognize what each of our emotions are telling us, as well as being comfortable with all of our emotions and those of others. Dr.
  • Weight Loss Success: Managing the Breaking Point - If you have difficulty getting through the afternoon and evening without overeating, you are not alone. The key to managing stress is managing your energy level. The hardest time of the day for most people is in the middle to late afternoon. Around 3:00 or 4:00 P.M. we enter the time of day that Japanese researchers have called the "breaking point." By studying brain-wave readings throughout the day, they found 2 distinct kinds of rhythms.
  • Thoughts About Grief - Some Thoughts About Grief: Grieving: Kübler-Ross said that the grieving process involves experiencing all five stages of grief, although not always in this order. Although not everyone progresses through these stages in the same order and not everyone experiences each stage, the feelings and emotions identified seem to be universal. Shock and Denial: The first reaction to loss is often the inability to feel anything. This may include feeling numb, weak, overwhelmed, anxious, not yourself, or withdrawn. Anger: Blaming yourself or others for the loss. Bargaining: "If you'll just let him live, I'll promise to go to church every Sunday for the rest of my life." Depression: Feeling deep sadness, disturbed sleep and eating patterns, thoughts of suicide, excessive crying.
  • Emotional Health Affects You More than You Think - Although it is still often overlooked, emotional health is absolutely essential to your physical health and the healing abilities of your body. Looking after your state of mind is as important as taking care of your body. But most people neglect their emotional health and only pay attention to their physical health. Emotional health and wellbeing is about how we feel, think and behave. Nobody feels blissfully happy and thinks positive thoughts all the time. However, a person in a generally good state of mind finds it much easier to enjoy life. People who are emotionally healthy are in control of their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. They feel good about themselves and have good relationships with the people close to them. They can keep problems in perspective.
  • Your EQ Skills Will Land You The Job Everytime - There was a time when all you needed to do to get that job was have the proper education and experience. Well that's no longer the norm today. Human Resource specialists are well trained to look for the best communicators. Simply put, the better your communication skills, the better your EQ or emotional intelligence!. There are many companies who will take a lesser qualified candidate over the so called perfect 10, simply based on his or her ability to express themselves well. They know that more often than not, good communicators are just plan better team players. Teams that were made up of 12 staffers only a few years ago, have been downsized to just 6, and man oh man ..
  • Crush - Crushes are known to be the easy doorway into the planet of strong emotions and affairs, without having much of the distressing hazard involved in really dating someone. A crush more truly means to admire someone from far-off. It's a very cute feeling which deters obligation of any sort. You actually enjoy the little spring of emotion that grows in your heart and it is indeed an incredibly powerful feeling that might take you to the crest of sheer obsession.
  • Are You Clear? - There is something that I have observed for a long time. Think about it and decide if it's something that you too have observed. When it comes to problems, shortcomings, failures and all the negative things in life, there are a lot of people who seem to be able to relate and talk about those things in exquisite detail! Even if it's something that happened in the past, people seem to remember it and repeat it as if it happened only a few minutes ago.
  • Are you receiving the Happiness you should? - How do you feel about what is around you in life? What do you expect people, situations and things to provide to you? So often we make statements like; 'I don't get any pleasure from. . . ', or 'it/they no longer gives me what I want', or 'it doesn't satisfy me.
  • The Core Weight Loss Struggle - You may be thinking of going back to that old, familiar diet plan after the holidays - Weight Watchersâ„¢, Jenny Craigâ„¢ -- you know, the one that you had some success with before, but it didn't last. You know exactly what to do; you may even have the plan memorized. You know in your heart that the same thing could happen again, but you feel that you should do "something". But, we all know that the core of most weight loss struggles is not about WHAT you eat . . . it's emotional.
  • Are You a Psychic Empath? - Do you ever feel overwhelmed by emotions at restaurants, movies, parties, or in crowds? Does your mood ever change when you are around certain people? Do you ever feel a sudden energy drain when around someone? Do you ever feel physical symptoms of those around you?
  • Turning Fear into Love: A Message from the Keepers of the Akashic Records - I have been channeling messages from the Akashic Records throughout my life, assisting others on their precious journeys and using the guidance of the Masters, Teachers, and Loved Ones myself. Now I am being encouraged to bring forth information taken from question and answer sessions that may benefit those not familiar with channeled work or the Akashic Records. Information in this article comes from a channeled session that deals with a method to work with fearful feelings, and the very nature of following its process is transformative.
  • Joy Is A Hard Sell - "Joy is a hard sell" I heard myself telling Ben Mack who is, among other things, a brilliant guy with specialties in magic and marketing. We were talking about defining what I offer people. In the context of this newsletter the tagline, "Health, power, and joy for smart women", is strong, I think, until one gets to the word joy. What does that word mean to my readers and potential clients?
  • The Benefits of Sharing A Meal with Someone - We focus a great deal on what to eat, when to eat and how to eat. But do you know that eating with someone is just as important as what you eat? In our fast-paced, hectic world, families are finding fewer moments for meals together and they are missing out on an opportunity to feed the body both physically and emotionally.
  • If You Don't Change, Nothing Will Change - 'Change,' the word that everybody must face everyday especially those who are not satisfied with their current situation. Is 'change' a hard thing to do? Frankly speaking, I found it hard, extremely hard especially to change bad habits. Have you ever tried to stop smoking but eventually put it back into your mouth? Have you been on dieting but quitted for it doesn't seem to work? Change happens all the time, it's just that we are not aware about it. Every moment that we are alive, change constantly happens. For instance, we always breathe in oxygen but we never breathe it out.
  • The Heart of Performance: Leading Through Emotions - Today's organizations are complex, quickly changing, under intense financial pressure, and facing more work with less people. All too often leaders find themselves asking people to "do more with less." What leadership alchemy does it take to engage people to dig deeper and reach further quarter after quarter? Every leader can improve the "people side of performance" by understanding the emotional drivers that bring out the best in people. New research on organization climate by the Institute for Organizational Performance shows a powerful link between feelings and performance. Assessing customer service, productivity, and retention, a recent study finds 57.7% of the difference between low and high performance is predicted by five climate factors plus trust (using the Organizational Vital Signs climate assessment).
  • Hypnosis - How it Helps You Be Faithful All The Time - A lot of men and women seek emotional and sexual intimacy with people other than their partners. But the reasons why men and women cheat on their partners are different. Most men cheat on their partners because they feel that physical intimacy is lacking in their relationship.
