  • Aging Related Skin Changes - The changes that occur as we get older are both in appearance and in how we function. However, aging is not a process that occurs at the same rate in all individuals, although all people do age. The part of aging that occurs just because we are older is named intrinsic. An example of an intrinsic change that occurs in the tissue itself is the graying of hair. Hormonal changes, like the change in the secretion of sebum in the skin, occurs because of reduced secretion of androgen hormones elsewhere in the body. But there are several features of the aging process that are the result of external or extrinsic factors. Prevention is avoiding these extrinsic factors that may increase the aging process.

I have personally lived in a condo for over 10 years. Condo and apartment living can be very rewarding and can make you feel very secure, but these units can also become a nightmare especially if you live in a lower unit and are forced to tolerate the noisy walking from the neighbors above. When contractors build these units, soundproofing is probably not their top priority, but it should be.

  • Therapeutic Treatment of Acne - A variety of treatments are presently known for alleviating acne, some better than others. There are two modes of treatment, topical and systemic. More specifically with respect to the topical application of certain specific antimicrobials, a local solution containing erythromycin is used. Also used is a local solution including clindamycin, and a cream containing meclocycline sulfosalicylate 1% (a tetracycline derivative). The etiopathology of acne, although unclear, begins in formation of a peculiar lesion: the comedo. This produces a blockage in the pilosebaceous canal after dyskeratinization of the infundibular area of the duct. A major effect of the blockage is to modify the rheology of the sebum and the physicochemical properties of the zone.
  • Acne Lesions - People with acne frequently have a variety of acne lesions. The common acne lesion, called as comedo (comedone), is fundamentally an extended hair follicle conserved with bacteria and oil. This type of lesion is commonly known as a microcomedo (whitehead or comedo) when the plugged follicle leftovers under the skin.
