Soaring in revenue, the online market is doing fabulous. Despite the hindrance of a slow economy, the online world is not suffering a bit. In fact, it is doing better than ever before. In the past 10 years alone, the amount of money online advertising has brought in has gone from less than 1 billion to 21 billion dollars. In the last year alone it rose over 5 billion dollars from the year before.

Chinese companies may raise as much as US$74 billion this year through IPOs on the Shanghai and Shenzhen bourses in an effort to generate funds for growth, according to a statement from PricewaterhouseCoopers in Shanghai. PwC expects 300 new listing this year (275 in Shenzhen and 25 in Shanghai) following a very solid first half which saw 176 companies raise US$31 billion. The country's 99 IPOs in total last year generated less than that figure, raising just US$28 billion through the entirety of 2009 - although there was a 10-month moratorium on share sales until June 2009 to protect the markets during the economic downturn.

A showdown is looming in Washington. And it's all about debt. Just to put this into perspective, our national debt stands at about $14 trillion. According to the national debt clock on brilling.com, the debt is $14,107,455,627,940.78, and the estimated population of the United States is 309,976,811. So each citizen's share of this debt is $45,511.33. The national debt is increasing by approximately $4.16 billion per day.

A recession in the US may now be real and official. But irrespective of the downturn, Indian tech enterprises have some reason to smile. A new breed of outsourcers are emerging in the US, who could help Indian providers to offset some of the impact of the recession on their businesses.

According to the New York Times, on Monday the Bush administration proposed a new rule to reduce reimbursements to pharmacists for Medicaid beneficiaries. If implemented, the new rule is expected to save $8.4 billion dollars over the next five years, $4.9 billion in federal savings and $3.5 billion in local savings for states.
