  • First Christmas by Alastair Macdonald - A Classic is Born - A book review generally consists of a perusal of the writer’s style, the story line and the flow and the viability of the subject matter. That would be nearly impossible with Alastair Macdonald’s “First Christmas.
  • Pithy Prose: The Wit and Wisdom of Johann Goethe - Part 9 of an occasional series I am a collector of quotations. I have been ever since I learned how to write, I mean professionally, not in primary school. I am particularly fond of what I like to call "pithy prose".
  • Practice of the Prophet (saas) - One of the most important characteristics, frequently mentioned with regards to the Prophet (saas) in the Qur'an, is that he only practiced what Allah revealed and asked of him, with no concern about what others might think. Important figures and members of other religions at the time wanted him to impose rules that would benefit them.
  • The Prophets (saas) Patience - Throughout the period of his mission, the Prophet Muhammad (saas) experienced all manner of difficulty. Deniers and polytheists, from among his own people, insulted him most terribly, even calling him a magician or a madman. Others wanted to kill him and even schemed to do so. Despite all that, the Prophet (saas) tried to teach people of all backgrounds and cultures about the Qur'an, and therefore about proper morality and good behavior.
  • He Who Obeys The Prophet (saas) Obeys Allah - Allah charges everyone with obeying the prophets He has sent.
  • The Exemplary Justice of the Prophet (saas) - In the Qur'an, Allah commands believers to "Be upholders of justice, bearing witness for Allah alone, even against yourselves or your parents and relatives. Whether they are rich or poor, Allah is well able to look after them. Do not follow your own desires and deviate from the truth..." (Surat an-Nisa': 135). With the rules he imposed on Muslims, his just and tolerant attitude towards those of other religions, languages, races and tribes, and his way of not discriminating between rich and poor, but treating everybody equally, Allah's Messenger (saas) is a great example to all of mankind. Allah says this to His Prophet (saas) in one verse: They are people who listen to lies and consume ill-gotten gains.
  • The Prophet (saas) Warned Against Idolatry - One of the most important errors that the Prophet (saas) has warned against is associating partners with Allah (shirk). As can be seen from the verses of the Qur'an, the Prophet (saas) always told people that Allah is the only god, that nothing had any power apart from Allah, and warned them against idolatry.
  • The Prophet (saas) Was A Bearer of Glad Tidings - In the verse "O Prophet! We have sent you as a witness, and a bringer of good news and a warner" (Surat al-Ahzab: 45), Allah describes the Prophet (saas) as a bearer of glad tidings and a warner. The Prophet (saas) always warned people against the sufferings to be experienced in Hell, and told them of the desirable future that awaited the good in this world, and of the infinite life of the Paradise in the hereafter.
  • The Prophet (saas) Was Always Considerate and Courteous - Some of those who surrounded the Prophet (saas) were less than well-mannered and cultured. It can be seen from a number of verses that they could not understand how thoughtless they were and that their behavior could make others uncomfortable.
  • Pithy Prose: The Wit and Wisdom of Anon - Part 7 of an occasional series I am a collector of quotations. I have been ever since I learned how to write, I mean professionally, not in primary school. I am particularly fond of what I like to call "pithy prose". These short quotations can cover an unlimited variety of subjects: love, religion, politics, human nature, etc. What unites them is their ability to say more in one or two sentences than could be expressed in a thousand-word treatise. It's like being able to pour a liter of liquid into a half-liter bottle. They are superb examples of Mark Twain's famous dictum, "The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and a lightning bug.
  • Guru - A Path Of Complete Accomplishment - Introduction What if children were told to educate themselves in modern sciences without any teacher or any access to prior knowledge gained over centuries? In the same way, a guide is very much required in our spiritual journey. It stands to reason that a guide in any field needs to be an authority in that particular field. According to Spiritual science a person who is an authority in the field of Spirituality is known as a Guru.
  • Moody Church's Dr. Lutzer Out Of Step With Founders - Unknown to his supporters, the respected pastor of Moody Church in Chicago, Dr. Erwin W. Lutzer, annuls key biblical texts with strange, unorthodox interpretations. By doing so, this modern evangelical icon promises paradise to the unrepentant and flatly opposes Moody founder Dwight Lyman Moody on the ABC's of salvation. Many faithful Christians who enjoy much of Dr. Lutzer's teaching are unaware that their dear pastor and teacher (as well as his publisher Moody Press) have wandered far from the teaching of their founders on the basic salvation teachings of the Christian faith.
  • Disguised and Christianized: On Deception - Did the sunrise chase away starry dreams? Was it a day like today? From mountain summits to valley floors, surely all creation joined nature's refrain as the Almighty's chorus sprang to life. This voiceless chorus sang utopian strains of heavenly rhapsody while lambs and lions feasted on spring leaves. Not a harsh word or even a weed polluted this pristine paradise.
  • Sinning Saints and Dr. Tony Evans - "Committed Christians may fall into sin, but a carnal Christian bathes in," insists the learned and celebrated Dr. Anthony T. Tony Evans. "He has the mindset, motivation and methodology of sin." Christians who bathe in sin? Is repentance and self denial optional to salvation? According to Dr. Evans the answer is "yes.
  • Anthony T. (Tony) Evans: Carnal Christianity - Counterfeit, errant dogmas always creep around the Christian church. In fact, Revelation chapter two records a warning from Jesus against dangerous doctrines that led His people astray. In the contemporary church the "carnal Christian," a sin-friendly doctrinal hybrid, is worming its way into Christian orthodoxy. One outspoken proponent of this carnal Christian doctrine is Dr. Tony Evans. All of Dr. Evans' statements quoted in this article are from his booklet The Carnal Christian which is posted on his website. Contrary to Christian history, but in accordance with his alma mater, Dallas Theological Seminary, Dr. Evans harvests this theory from 3 verses in 1 Corinthians chapter 3: "I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to babes in Christ. 2 I gave you milk to drink, not solid food;
  • Chuck Swindoll: Rewriting the Reformation - In The Grace Awakening, his magnum opus, Dr. Charles R. (Chuck) Swindoll presents himself as fanning the flame of "the torch of freedom" as originally held by protestant Reformers like Martin Luther. In this he convinces his followers that by trusting him and his teaching in The Grace Awakening that they are in line with the historic Reformation teachings of grace and faith alone. Swindoll wrote: "Human achievement must accompany sincere faith before you can be certain of your salvation. We continue to hear that "different gospel" to this day and it is a lie. It is heresy. It is antithetical to the true message that lit the spark to the Reformation: Sola Fide - faith alone" (The Grace Awakening, p.86).
  • Pithy Prose: The Wit and Wisdom of People Named 'H' - Part 7 of an occasional series I am a collector of quotations. I have been ever since I learned how to write, I mean professionally, not in primary school. I am particularly fond of what I like to call "pithy prose".
  • Earning a Praise and Worship Brown Belt - Pity the poor novice who innocently walks into a ‘with it’ church to worship. They expect to hear a little music, perhaps a reading from the Bible and somebody talking about God.
  • Some Miracles of The Quran - 10 - THE IDENTITY HIDDEN IN THE FINGERPRINT While it is stated in the Qur'an that it is easy for Allah to bring man back to life after death, peoples' fingerprints are particularly emphasized: Yes, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers. (Qur'an, 75:4) The emphasis on fingerprints has a very special meaning. This is because shapes and details on everyone's fingerprint are unique to each individual. Every person who is alive or who has ever lived in this world has a set of unique fingerprints. Furthermore, even identical twins having the very same DNA sequence have their own set of fingerprints. Fingerprints attain their final shape before birth and remain the same for a lifetime unless a permanent scar appears.
  • Some Miracles of The Quran - 9 - THE TRUTH OF DESTINY But you will not will unless Allah wills. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise. (Qur'an, 76:30) As a result of experiments he performed in 1973, Professor Benjamin Libet, a neurophysiologist at the University of California, revealed that all our decisions and choices are set out beforehand, and that consciousness only comes into play half a second after everything has been determined.
