  • Did Bruce Lee Battle with Sleep Paralysis? - Anyone who has followed the amazing rags to riches story of Bruce Lee's incredible journey from a poor and troubled childhood through to his meteoric rise to fame in the 60's and 70's martial arts action movies will be aware of the mysterious legend surrounding him of his battles with a demonic entity.
  • Rape Is An Abomination That No Civilised Society Can Tolerate - Even though rape involves forced sex, rape is not about sex or passion. Rape Is Rape and sadly is an everyday occurrence. A single act of rape is barbaric but it would be naïve to assume that rape just involves squalid acts of sexual assault in dimly lit alleyways late at night. Rape is no longer just the stereotyped gun-to-the-head or knife-to-the-throat situation, contrary to what a large portion of the population believes but an ever growing proportion of rapes and sexual assaults are carried out by attackers who are known to their victims. Funny that isn't it? Or rather not funny but in a macabre and sordid way, slowly but surely the lid is being lifted on what has hitherto been viewed as merely a woman's problem. To many, rape is exclusively a man's abuse of power against a woman.

  • How to Stay Safe While Jogging or Walking - When you are out walking or jogging for exercise, it can be very easy to get lost in your own world of thought. As the number of people engaging in walking and jogging for exercise increases, so does the number of attacks perpetrated on them. It is very important to be aware of your surroundings while jogging or walking.
  • You Can Avoid and Protect Yourself From Date Rape - The crime of date rape is becoming more and more prevalent. With this in mind, these simple safety tips are important to keep in mind and pass along.
  • Marines on Trial for Raping Filipino Woman - It happened back in November in the Philippines. A woman, called by the pseudonym "Nicole," was allegedly raped by four U.S. Marines. The trial for this incident is now six weeks long, and Nicole has taken the stand. The defendants are Lance Cpl. Daniel Smith, Lance Cpl. Dominic Duplantis, Lance Cpl. Keith Silkwood and Staff Sgt. Chad Carpentier. It is alleged that Smith raped Nicole while the other three U.S. Marines watched and cheered. The events that led up to the alleged rape started back in November. One night the 22-year-old Nicole was drinking with the four U.S. Marines.
  • The Specialties Of Forensic Nurses - Forensic nursing, just like regular nursing is divided up into several smaller specialties. Nurses wanting to get an education in forensics have the opportunity to pick one or more of these specialties that they prefer the most. Here are three of those smaller specialties: Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner This nurse responds to notification of sexual assault, usually by the emergency room staff and obtains a preliminary history, conducts an in-depth interview and conducts the physical, including a pelvic exam to collect appropriate evidence. The nurse maintains a verified chain of evidence and collaborates with law enforcement officials, which may include testifying in court. The role includes victim education regarding sexually transmitted disease and pregnancy risks and provides referrals for follow-up care.
  • The Role Of The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner - A Look Into SANE Programs - Studies have shown that less than half of the victims of sexual assault treated in emergency rooms get basic help with information about the risk of pregnancy or emergency contraception to prevent pregnancy. They have to wait for sometimes up to six hours for treatment, and during this wait, they're told not to eat, drink, or even use the bathroom before they're examined because it might destroy evidence. By the time of the examination, victims often feel "re-raped" from the treatment by the staff of the emergency room. For this reason, emergency rooms are realizing a need for SANE programs. SANE's are registered nurses who have specialized training in examining victims of sexual assault.
