The Beagle was considered to be the most popular dog during the 1950's
in the United States. The Beagle first originated in the eleventh century when William the Conqueror was known for bringing the Talbot hound to Great Britain. The Talbot Hound was a scent hound, white in color that is thought to be an ancestor of the Beagle. The Talbot hound is now extinct. Another link to the evolution of the Beagle is the black and tan Irish Kerry Beagles. This type of dog was a small game hunter. The Beagle has such a strong sense of smell because of this particular ancestry.

Every truly avid dog owner wishes for the chance to show off his pet at the nearest dog show. It is both a way to validate your pride in owning your pet and a chance to see other beautiful dogs in action. For the first timer, however, entering the world of competitive dog shows can truly be a daunting experience.
