Afro-Americans are lining up behind Obama and white females over 50 are lining up behind Hillary and both demographics are threatening to walk out of the Denver convention if their candidate is not the nominee. Now if this isn’t an example of gender and race bias, then I don’t know what it is.

In 1986, the death of promising basketball star Len Bias shocked the nation and confirmed that crack cocaine was quickly becoming an epidemic. Twenty-four years later, we examine the role Bias' death had in legislation, and if those legislative changes have influenced drug use in America.

Interesting people have opinions and beliefs that they they feel strongly about.

Let's call these biases, especially when talking about theirs. Hehe.

Bias: A preference or an inclination, especially one that inhibits impartial judgment.

Well it might be wise to start this column off by stating that it comes with a bias. I love the Atlantic Ocean and I would not move away from it in a million years. My bias comes from the first 22 years of my life living on the beaches of Santa Barbara over on the west coast.

The strong U.S. support for Israel is daunting to most Muslims. A poll conducted by the LA Times indicates that in the recent assault of Israel against the Lebanese that 43 per cent of Americans believe the attack was justified and not harsh in its treatment of the Lebanese people (Wallsten and Ghlert, 2006). I was recently looking at the news online and came across an article that talked about pills that have a positive effect on cancer prevention and/or treatment and why people don't use them. I don't know about you but I've been taking multivitamins for years now and I'm all for taking medications that help prevent diseases as well. With such tremendous breakthroughs in technology over the past several years I personally have a lot of faith in most medications that the FDA approves and that companies market to help prevent diseases.
