It is September once again and it is the time to celebrate and spruce up the campaign towards informing everybody about child passenger safety. That is why September is actually referred to as the National Child Passenger Safety Month.

For eight years now, I have been involved in searching for missing and abducted children and have been an advocate for child safety. Parents are scared every time they see a news story about yet another abducted or missing child.

Did you know that there is a 1 in 42 chance that YOUR child will become lost, missing, or abducted? In other words...those are not odds in your favor! To many people have become very complacent about child safety. They seem to have a "It couldn't happen to my child" attitude. You can believe that if you ask any of the parents of missing children, they thought the same thing. And you can also bet, their attitude has changed significantly.

Before you take your new baby home in your car you will need to buy a suitable car safety seat.

Seats for new born infants must be rear facing for safety. This is because a baby younger than about 12 months old does not have neck muscles that are strong enough to support the head. When a car stops suddenly the back rest of a rear facing child seat is designed to support your baby's head and helps prevent serious injury.

Babyproofing your home with safety devices significantly increases your ability to keep your child from serious injury or even death. Here we discuss some safety devices you can use t, but keep in mind that these devices are only to "help" you and are not 100 per cent safe to protect your child from danger.

A child safety seat inspection and installation fair would be held this coming Sunday, June 25th. This event would all be part of the campaign towards the reduction of fatalities among children. This kind of event is indeed very beneficial for the driving public, especially to those drivers who have children as their passengers.

As part of the campaign so as to reduce the number of children who die in vehicular crashes and accidents, groups would be holding a child safety seat inspection event in the state of Georgia. Those who sponsored and organized the event include 21st Century Insurance, the Department of Public Safety for the state of Georgia, John W.
