Strong agricultural and sporting traditions together with the native Maori culture mean that New Zealand is a country with a rich calendar of colourful festivals and events. Here are three of the most interesting of New Zealand’s festivals. The Lord of the Rings story has captured the imagination of millions of people around the world. New Zealand has been lucky enough to be involved in this global phenomena thanks to Peter Jackson's critically acclaimed Lord of the Rings movie trilogy. The wide-open spaces, diverse landscapes and spectacular scenery of New Zealand were the best place to film the movies, allowing New Zealanders to showcase their country and create a growing Lord of the Rings tourism industry. London is full of amazing sights and to do it justice you would have to spend weeks exploring its vast areas. The only problem is that it can take a long time to get from A to B so you have to be prepared for some frustrating times whether it's delays on the underground or huge lines at famous attractions. Luckily you'll never find yourself disappointed with what you find in London, it's a destination that should be on every traveler's to do list.
Not sure what you can delegate? Don't know if you can afford it? Try writing down a list of all the regular tasks you do in a week, and estimate the amount of time spent on each activity. Now, pretend you're paying someone a wage relative to each task, and put a dollar value beside each item, based on the guestimated hours spent. For example, bookkeeping might be worth $35 per hour. If you've spent 2 hours this week doing the books you'd put $70 beside that one. If, on the other hand, you've done data entry, that may be worth $15 per hour. You've taken 30 minutes, so $7.50 goes in the column. Signatures save time, help promote your business and prevent frustration for your email readers. Your email (or digital) signature is a great shortcut. It's a pre-recorded signature, inserting with a click the words of your choice. In Outlook this neat feature is accessed through Tools, Options, Mail Format, Signatures and then just follow the wizard. How many poorly run meetings have you attended? Ever noticed a chairperson who uses their position to grandstand and bulldoze their own agenda, leaving battered and silenced colleagues grumbling into their teacups in the corridor. I'm sure some people think that's their right as a chairperson, especially when they're the boss. However, there are infinitely more effective ways to build cooperation. Do you remember your mother saying,'Pick up your clothes (or books, or toys, or... )? Funny thing is, a modified version of the same philosophy -'Put it away as you go'- applies at the highest level of business. Perhaps it's because our mothers told us to do it that so many seemingly well-organised, highly paid and otherwise neatly-turned-out adults ignore this sage piece of advice! There are several challenging and serene golf courses to choose from in New Zealand, and each course offers their own unique experience. We’ll go over the basics to plan what time of the year would be best for a New Zealand golf tour and will also go into detail about Cape Kidnappers and Clearwater, two top courses in New Zealand. London is a sprawling city with a unique heritage and sights by the truckload. It is a must visit city and even if you can't handle the crowds and noise you'll get a kick out of just being there and experiencing such a historic place. These were just my first impressions of London, there's so much more to it and you would be foolish to not experience it for yourself at any chance you get. I was about to begin a series of seminars for The Academy for Chief Executives in the UK when their MD, Mike Burnage threw me some great pearls of wisdom. What he said was enough for me to say, ‘Hang on, Mike. That’s great advice and I’d love you to share it with readers. Can I get my digital recorder and interview you?’ Ask most people about how they manage their ‘to do’ lists and you’ll find that few use lists (if they have them) in a way that gets the best results. Most begin with the easiest tasks. Consequently, at the end of the day they’ve run out of time for the big or more difficult jobs. Why? ‘I like to cross things off’; ‘It gives a sense of satisfaction’; ‘I’m getting up momentum for the harder jobs’ .... the reasons are many. I learnt something as I unpacked my bags recently. I'd just returned from a 3-day trip to regional towns around New Zealand. I pulled out some items I needed immediately and then caught myself thinking, 'I'll finish unpacking later.' 'No you won't. You'll do it now!' Said the little voice on my shoulder. This story links intuition, avoidance of stress, and perception, and how I was helped to catch a train (a very lateral lesson in time choices). I’d just finished two days of work for the CPA Queensland (Certified Practising Accountants) Congress in Brisbane. Reforming ‘rush-aholic’ that I am, I’d packed my other bags ready to leave the hotel good and early, but worked at the computer just a few minutes too long... Interruptions (many of them unnecessary) plague most people in business, and most bosses are no exception. We’ve come out of the dark ages where managers never communicated anything to their underlings, through the development of open communication and empowerment, to the point where many people feel they have to ‘be available’ all day.
