The Iron Girl Event Series came to Clearwater in 2005, offering a 5k and a half-marathon to women only. The event continues into 2011 and aims to empower women by promoting healthy lifestyles. Established in 1972, the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, also known as the Clearwater Marine Science Center (CMSC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and preserving Florida aquatic life, while educating the public. In 1981 the aquarium created its first exhibit room, the Sea-Orama.
