An important factor to consider while choosing a good coconut oil is the lauric acid content. Lauric acid is the fundamental building block of our bodies immune system and the most effective anti-pathogenic of all medium chain fatty acids.

The process of oil extraction has been existent from very early times. In those days, the seeds were merely cleaned and grinded with the use of grinders or stone mills. With the advancement of science and technology, the use of machines like Screw Presses or Oil Expellers were started for expelling or extracting oil from oil seeds and nuts. Oil Expellers play a very vital role in the oil extraction process.

Solvent Extraction Plants are used to extract oil by using chemicals. These plants use cake as the raw material, which is obtained from the oil press section. An organic solvent is used to dissolve the cake's or seed's oil content after the process of dipping or spraying, which ensures that the oil content is in close contact with the feeding material. After this, the solvent is vaporized out and the oil is collected. In these plants, the vaporized solvent is recycled.

Generally, Hammer Mills are machines which are used to shred materials into fine particles or they are machines used to break and crush pieces of hard, frangible materials, such as rock and mineral ores, into smaller pieces. They are used in several industries including milling grain, fruit juice production, ethanol plants, shredding paper, waste management and in farm machines which mills grain into coarse flour.

Seed Processing is the first and most vital step of the oil extraction process. This is the part where the seeds are procured, cleaned, flaked, and cooked so that the oil extraction process can be carried out in a more efficient manner. Almost all kinds of seeds have some amount of oil content in them.
