People who need corrective lenses for better vision prefer contact lenses to glasses for reasons more than one. Besides the apparent appearance, glasses may be uncomfortable on the face, be heavy on the ears and nose and may have glare problems. This drawback can be overcome by using contact lenses, which are almost invisible on the eyes to others.

Colored lenses permit a person to change or enhance, his or her eye color. Until 2005, buying colored lenses did not require a prescription. However, the purchase of a color contact lens currently requires a prescription due to numerous incidents of adverse effects, and the potential for significant eye injury. These adverse events have been caused by improper fit, defective manufacturing, consumer misuse, and the transfer of of harmful bacteria.

For those of us who suffer from any kind of vision distortion that requires corrective glasses or contact lenses, there are now a few different options for safe and effective lasik surgery. There are a few different types of the lasik (Laser Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis) procedure available with each having their own set of advantages and drawbacks. One procedure in particular known as ADA lasik eye surgery is especially well suited to those who suffer from extremely poor vision and wish to rid themselves of corrective lenses or glasses. By knowing the guidelines of a qualifying candidate for eye surgery and the benefits involved, you will be able to make an informed decision about lasik surgery.

There are two types of general contact lenses. Soft lenses and rigid gas permeable lenses are the two types of lenses. The rigid gas permeable is also known as RGP's.

Soft contact lenses are easier to wear because they are more moveable than that of RGP's. This makes them more comfortable to have in your eyes. The soft lens also allows oxygen flow freely to your cornea leaving your eyes feel better.

Contact lenses, or contacts, were originally developed to correct the wearer's vision without the need for glasses. This sits directly on the cornea of the eye and essentially does the exact function of traditional glasses but without the need for visible frames. In fact, contacts are almost invisible and are very lightweight.

Acuvue contact lenses are the main substitute for glasses (another method would be surgery). They are easy to wear and easy to take care of. Children as well as elders use them without problems. They don't hurt, they don't get lost or stuck (as some might think) and they can't pop out of your eyes (as the rigid contact lenses used to do years ago). With the proper care, they cause neither eye irritations, nor other ocular problems.

Shopping around for bifocal contact lenses really does not have to be hard, and it is just a matter of taking the time to get a great deal. Bifocal toric contact lenses are available all over the place, and so it is not going to be hard to get a great price. Just make sure that you know what you are doing and that you are going to be getting your bifocal contact lenses for the lowest price and also that you are getting the right prescription, otherwise you are not going to be able to see.
