The bad news is that smoking increases your risk of developing lung cancer. And I can tell you that 90 per cent of lung cancer deaths in men and 80 per cent of lung cancer deaths in women are linked with smoking. And lung cancer is not the only cancer related to smoking. The Consumer Products Safety Commission reports there were an average of 162,500 toy-related injuries among children under age 15 during the three year period from 2005 to 2007. During this same three year period, 71 children under age 15 died as a result of their injuries. These figures include 26 kids in 2005, 27 kids in 2006 and another 18 in 2007.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration works to make the workplace a safe and healthy place to be. They provide literature and education to employers to help them make sure their workplace is safe and healthy. OSHA works to lower the number of job related injuries, illnesses and deaths.

Breast cancer is a devastating disease and it is one of the most common reasons for disease related deaths in women. Though the number of deaths that are caused due to cancer in general and breast cancer specifically have been on the decline over the last few years, the actual number of deaths still is cause for concern.

The list containing the top 10 leading causes for women's deaths was recently released by the Center for Disease Control.

Yesinsurance.co.uk has released figures showing that UK road deaths could be cut by 6 per cent - around 200 people per year - if the clocks were put forward instead of back in the UK each winter. The study revealed that using British Summer Time (BST) in summer and BST+1 in winter would notably cut road deaths during shorter winter days. Currently the UK uses BST in summer and GMT in winter.
