  • Motorcycle Vs. Car - Myth or Madness - Motorcycle riders often get an unjustified reputation as being reckless, risk takers, and that they generally disobey traffic laws. This perception is unfounded and there are many statistics that back up the fact that most motorcycle accidents are not the fault of the motorcycle rider, but that of another driver. A major study conducted by the University of Southern California (USC) found that approximately three-fourths of motorcycle accidents involved a collision with another vehicle, usually a passenger automobile. It was also found that in the multiple vehicle accidents, the driver of the other vehicle violated the motorcycle right-of-way and caused the accident in two-thirds of those accidents. Further the study by USC found that the failure of motorists to detect and recognize motorcycles in traffic is the predominating cause of motorcycle accidents.
  • Valentine's Day - A Romantic Peak Or A Commercial Basement(R) - Every year there is a surge in romantic interest as February, the Month of Hearts, approaches, and the scent of Valentine's Day begins to waft in the air. When it comes to reality, though, how much of that surge is genuinely about romance? Is it not all a commercial exercise designed to rake in the profits? I do not think anyone can argue that commercial interests contribute greatly to the publicity that surrounds Valentine's Day.
  • Embrace Your Overall Vision: It May Be Hiding in the Strangest Places - Thinking back on it, my lifestyle change journey really began about eight years ago. But I didn't become aware of it until about three years ago when I consciously decided I needed to lead a "lighter" life and started by cleaning out the medicine cabinet. It seems so simple now, but it took three months before I could let go of the contents of that 14 x 16-inch space. Every time I went in that cabinet, a more honest assessment yielded more trash. Soon it became easier to be honest about the clutter of my life, at least the old stuff. Memory stuff was not so easy--things my parents gave me, my ex-husband, old boyfriends, friends--I'm sure you get the picture. Of course, the kids' stuff was the hardest.
  • The Timeless Secret to Creating Bestselling Niche Non-Fiction - It is quite an achievement when a niche non-fiction book remains consistently at the top of the bestseller lists for a period spanning six months; an achievement that is all the more difficult to fathom when you consider that the subject matter has nothing to do with sex, drugs, rock and roll or the like; subject matter that might even be regarded as mundane in the extreme. What is the secret? o What drives a book with a commonplace topic to the top of the lists and keeps it there for months on end?
  • Top Secret! The One-Year Path To Publication - There is a way to virtually guarantee your publication within a single year. No, it has nothing to do with self-publication. This path is not for dilettantes, and will push you to the limit, but it has worked for dozens of my students, and it will work for you. It is based on writing principles first proposed by two giants in the publishing field, science-fiction writers Ray Bradbury, and Robert Heinlein, over thirty years ago.
  • Seven Ways To Connect Your Writing And Your Life - An important question for any artist is: How can I built a career and simultaneously be true to myself? It's an important question, and during the twenty years I've taught writing, hundreds of students have expressed the belief that success and personal integrity are mutually exclusive. The Lifewritingâ„¢ approach to fiction suggests that not only do these two qualities overlap, but that the safest, surest, most satisfying path to discovering your true voice, your deepest creative flow, and ultimately crafting the most satisfying career, is to be true to yourself.
  • How to Craft a Series of Bestselling Titles from a Single Topic - During the past ten years I have authored seventeen traditionally published niche non-fiction books, all of which (save one) have achieved bestselling status in their respective genres. Here's the thing though; I have used only 2 topics to produce 16 bestsellers. How do you do that; craft a series of titles from a single topic? It's a little-known technique that dates back to the dawn of literature and is used by all bestselling authors either consciously or unwittingly. And when you know the secret, you can also use this technique in writing fiction. It has a lot in common with what the late great Alfred Hitchcock called the 'McGuffin'; the singular device he employed in all of his screenplays.
  • Writing The Blockbuster Book Proposal: How To Sell Your Non-Fiction Book - You did it. You crafted the perfect query letter for your non-fiction book, and as a result, an editor at a large publishing house has requested a full book proposal. At this point, you have a 50/50 chance of seeing your work on a bookstore shelf. The difference maker will be a strong book proposal that exhibits knowledge of your audience, what that audience needs and wants, and how that audience can be reached on a cost-effective basis.
