When the sun goes down artificial lighting such as fluorescent light bulbs and incandescent light bulbs is as essentially important as the sunlight to light our houses at night. Such lighting fixtures is a key part of interior design, and with a proper lighting plan, it can enhance task performance and aesthetics.

HID Lamps -These lamps are commonly used by commercial growers and serious horticulturists. HID lamps combined with a grow light mover emit twice the amount of light as an incandescent or fluorescent bulb while using the same amount of energy. It's is because they so energy-efficient that you'll often see HID’s used to light shopping malls, baseball fields, and streets. The special fixtures, light movers and bulbs used in HID lighting are much more expensive compared to incandescent or fluorescent lights, however.

In our ever-growing need for energy efficiency in everything from autos to light bulbs, more and more research is being put into the technology of LEDs. In the past few years, LEDs have gradually replaced incandescent and fluorescent bulbs in many applications, including traffic lights, flashlights and reading lamps. While compact fluorescent bulbs are still the best choice for cost-effective energy efficiency, LEDs are rapidly rising as the newest contender on the market.

Lighting is often the most neglected part of any kitchen building and renovation. When properly planned, kitchen lighting will add interest and excitement to any kitchen design.

I learned that not only vehicles and factories are the byproduct producing entity.

Did you know that an object as little and as useless as a fluorescent lamp or light bulb (when disposed) emits harmful organisms such as mercury and lead? They do, as a matter of fact studies show that improper disposal of useless or dead fluorescent lamps have become hazardous.

Change out your incandescent bulbs for energy-efficient compact fluorescent bulbs today and make a difference in the environment and your monthly energy bill.

Unfortunately, it is not often possible for a daily bask in 80 degree weather for your pet (although you can build a habitat that provides efficient heat too.) In most cases, though, you'll have to provide some source of UV bulbs for your pet to take advantage of indoors.

You may be used to your standard watt light bulb. But nowadays it seems that fluorescent lightings are really gaining popularity.

Unfortunately, over the years fluorescent lightings have carried the negative stigma that they provide flickering, sickly, green-tinted, institutional-like, headache-inducing, noisy light. But, those lights that used to be favored only for lighting the garage are making their way into other rooms.

Dimmable lights can provide a more mellow feel to a room than the vivid glare of full-strength lighting. Turning down the lights also saves you money. At the same time, compact fluorescent lights are very efficient. Can you maximize savings by using a dimmer switch with CFLs? Or will the bulbs catch fire and ruin that pleasant mood lighting?

Proper lighting is an essential part in creating a welcoming environment to any room. One's bathroom mirror requires good lighting to become more effective and friendly to its users.

Basically, there are two kinds of lights available for ponds, halogen lights (which have been around for quite a while), and LED, which are more recent developments. Here are some differences between the two. Note that here we are addressing 12 volt systems only.

The different types of lights are incandescent, tungsten-halogen, compact fluorescent lamps, tubular fluorescent fixtures, and HID (high-density discharge).

LED Grow lights are another example of a small thing that can make a great difference. If you are growing your own food hydroponically, you're already taking a step toward saving the planet.

Growing plants indoors can be a huge benefit to you and your family in terms of producing even some of your own food, such as salad greens and tomatoes. But inefficient growing systems can be expensive to run. Here's how to use more efficient grow light systems in order to save money.

A good grow light is one that provides the correct amount and type of light for the plant being grown as well as its stage of development. Plants of course use light as an energy source, which it converts into chemical energy by means of photosynthesis.

Metal halide lamps create fantastic lighting under which plants thrive. They are small grow lamps that produce a lot of light, and are more efficient to run than either incandescent or fluorescent light bulbs.

LEDs have become more popular recently as more and more consumers try to conserve electricity by using more energy efficient lighting. And LEDs certainly are efficient - you can light up a room with LEDs for as little as one tenth the amount of energy required to light the same room up with incandescent lighting. But is upgrading to LED house lights the most sensible way to cut energy consumption for a given amount of money? Or will you wind up with substandard lighting and a technology that's not really ready for prime time?

Selecting the lighting fixtures and layout of the lights in the woodworking shop is a task that requires a significant amount of time and planning. It is necessary to determine where all of the stationary tools, work bench(s), mobile tools will be positioned to determine how much and where the lights need to be placed. It is never desirable to place a light such that you are casting a shadow when using a power tool.

There are two main aspects you need to consider when deciding on your kitchen lighting. First of all the room obviously needs to be well lit for food preparation, but many people also use the kitchen as an entertainment area, or somewhere to relax. SO the lighting needs to strike a balance between functionality and aesthetics. Here are some basic guidelines you might want to consider when picking your kitchen lighting.

Fluorescent lights can eliminate three quarters of the CO2 emissions caused by incandescent lights, but they do contain trace amounts of mercury, a toxic chemical. So which is really the more environmentally friendly choice overall?
