Ford is jubilant with Fusion's performance. In fact, the automaker is positive that Fusion has the potential to be the next big thing in the auto market.

What is the new 2006 Ford Fusion? 3280 pounds would be the 2006 Ford Fusion's curb weight. This vehicle actually has been built using the CD3 architecture of the Ford Motor Company. As per Ford history, the 2006 Ford Fusion made history already. The standard engine is a 2.3 liter DOHC engine that has been built using aluminum. It can produce 221 horsepower at 6250 rpm as well as some 205 pound feet of torque at 4800 rpm.

But as the markets evolved further models appeared that could straddle two car segments. So you had the crossover SUVs that were much more spacious but still handled more or less like a sedan. And you had family cars that had the look and performance of sports cars even though some of theses were quite bigger than the usual sports cars.

With gas prices soaring straight into oblivion, automobile customers and the rest of the auto market are looking for vehicles that would save their pockets from getting into trouble.

Ford sales for last month, May, has made quite a significant jump. The automobile manufacturer has credited such an increase to the small cars and commercial vehicles that the company is offering to the market. The increase was some eleven percent compared to the previous year. This totaled to around 157,200 units overall.

Ford hybrids have already arrived in a showroom near you. That's no surprise since Ford has placed a high value on hybrid technology. The Ford hybrids that are currently available for purchase are the Ford Escape Hybrid SUV, which was named the North American Truck of the Year and the Mercury Mariner Hybrid SUV, which has been endorsed by the Sierra Club.
