At the beginning of this year, the prominent Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR) performed a survey of the needs of graduate recruiters in the increasingly competitive job market. One of the most striking facts found by AGR's 2006 survey is that the number of vacancies for 2006 and beyond were going to increase by 15 percent over the past two years. When pressed for further details, graduate recruiters have outlined a few particular fields in which job vacancies were particularly high.

The rising cost of a university education has led to a boom in student lending throughout Europe and North America. European students used to low costs for higher education are facing fees, tuition and other costs that make student loans a necessity.

College students throughout the United Kingdom turn to part-time employment to help pay for university fees and living expenses. These jobs are often seen as an expedient way to earn a pay check without consideration of potential work experience that would be useful down the road.
