The dip tube in your water heater, (and nearly all water heaters have them), is a long plastic tube that fits into the inlet of the water heater and stops at about 8 inches above the bottom of the tank. Some water heaters have the cold water inlet at the bottom of the tank, and those water heaters do not need a dip tube since the cold water is already entering the tank from the bottom.

The basic principle on which a vacuum cleaner operates is called "suction". Suction again works on the fundamental concept of pressure. For example, when you sip Coke through a straw, the pressure on the mouth end of the straw is reduced as a result of which the pressure at the inserted end of the straw increases and Coke flows. This is the simplest implementation of a suction mechanism.

Includes a discussion extoling the virtues of curved dip tubes. Also talks about the flaws of standard dip tubes and what a broken dip tube will mean for your showers and baths.

Ever wonder how a portable air compressor works? Most work by what's called positive displacement. This is different from compressors that use rotating impellers to generate air pressure. Instead, air pressure is increased by reducing the size of the space that contains the air.

Sometimes insuring your vacation residence can be a bit of a challenge. These homes can be viewed as higher risk properties due to their extended periods of vacancy, thus making them more prone to theft. Some cottages are located in remote areas and may be more difficult to reach in the event of a fire. Often times you can get coverage as an extension of your primary home insurance policy, as long as you classify your second residence as a secondary or seasonal property.

There are inexpensive hot water delivery systems that can speed up your hot water and even save you time, water and money. These “hot water on demand” systems are examined in the article, and compared with hot water circulating systems.

Compressed air is an inevitable part of any industrial segment starting from aircraft and automobiles to dairies, fish farming, and textiles. It runs tools and machineries, provides power for material handling systems, and ensures clean, refreshing air in polluted environments. As compressed air system is crucial for industrial and commercial operations, the maintenance of compressor is vital too.

The new pressure exchanger (PX) device transfers the energy from the concentrate stream directly to the feed stream. This direct, positive displacement approach results in a net transfer efficiency of over 95 per cent. Although application of the PX technology is simple in both theory and practice, in order to get the most benefit from this technology it is important to reconsider the SWRO design and operation approach.

A swamp cooler, an earthen pot for cooling drinking water, cooling tower, and human skin, work on the same principle. The principle is evaporative cooling. Water is broken down into smaller droplets and air forced through it. Heat transfer takes place from water to air or air to water depending on the design of the equipment. In human skin, the heat is taken away from the body when sweat on surface of skin evaporates.

By far the largest state in the USA, Alaska was purchased from Russia for $7,200,000 in 1867. The purchase was met by howls of protest because it was considered too isolated, too cold and rugged, the mountainous terrain and lack of natural resources seemed to be a bad purchase and of no value.

Compressed air is used in many operations and processes and as a source of energy for heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) and process actuators and motors. It may also be supplied for low pressure systems and used for pneumatic control. Air can be compressed in several different ways and supplied at varying pressures and degrees of filtration depending on its use.

The Tornado Fuel Saver is a stainless steel, non-moving air-swirling device that can increase fuel efficiency and horsepower of a vehicle. This fuel-saving accessory works as an air channeling tool that generates a swirling air motion, enabling the air to move faster and more efficiently as it whirls the air around corners and bends.

The main purpose of a vacuum cleaner is to agitate fibers in a carpet and suck up any debris. There are six different reasons a vacuum can lose suction, a plugged vacuum hose, bad motor, full vacuum bag, or cracked or damage hoses. Purchasing a vacuum cleaner can be a costly expense while repairing the suction on a vacuum cleaner can be virtually free. Most suction loss problems on a vacuum cleaner can be easily fixed or remedied with common house hold tools and very little technical expertise.
