Ralph Waldo Emerson, the American philosopher said "The primary wisdom is intuition." It is not just a theory, it is part of who we are. Without training we can happen upon it occasionally and we usually like the results when we follow our intuition. What would happen if we learned to tap into our own innate intuition on a daily basis? Why don't we? OK, if youre reading my articles regularly, you know that I like learning new martial arts styles. Mostly Ive focused on the Northern Chinese styles, the ones based around Wudang Mountain. I learned the classical Snake Style Kung Fu as a change up from jiu jitsu, and then learned a bit about the Southern (or modern) Snake Style that was created by Master Leung Tin Chu at the turn of the 20th century. This is unknown territory for many. In school we are seldom taught to do deep reflection. As we get older and become adults we get caught in the cycle of productivity and consumption. As a result self reflection becomes something to be avoided so as not to slow one down. Self-awareness means knowing one's self at a deep level. Nightmares are the type of dream everyone fears and wants to avoid. By their nature, these dreams are fearful, but often they need to be faced. The mind may be presenting them to us in such a dramatic manner because we have ignored a message for a prolonged period of time and it's resorting to more drastic means to get our attention.
