Canine parvovirus or parvo is a very contagious virus that affects dogs. The disease is spreading from dog to dog directly or indirectly in contact with their feces. The most affected are the puppies rather than adult dogs. The virus can cause bloody diarrhea.

There are two ways that this disease is transmitted, via contact with the soil or infected feces. The feces of a dog infected with the canine parvovirus will be infected as well and can carry the disease to others. Other dogs don’t even need to come in contact with the feces of infected dogs.

A pregnant woman can be attacked by the B19 virus. This occurrence is usually not life-threatening since many pregnant women are already immune to the virus. This immunity will also protect the unborn child. But sometimes, the pregnant woman will be easily fatigued and have mucous discharges from her nose. There are risks that should be known to all expecting mothers.

The canine parvovirus is a DNA virus that is single stranded and very contagious, found in canines. The first time that this virus appeared was in 1978, but it can be found in every country in the world right now. Canine parvovirus will come in two variants, intestinal and cardiac.
