Aeration of ponds and lakes using pond aeration systems or lake fountains is necessary to maintain the quality of the water and the health of the organisms living in them. To understand why pond aeration and lake aeration are so important, it helps to know a little bit about what is going on in these small bodies of water and what it takes to keep them healthy. Ponds and lakes are more than just holes full of water. Regardless of the size of the body, there is a whole ecosystem in there that must be maintained and cared for. In bodies of water with strong, deep currents, nature can sometimes provide enough aeration without human help, but this is rarely the case with lakes and ponds.

There is nothing anything that I can think of doing that is better than relaxing in the garden with your favorite drink while enjoying the look and sound of water trickling in your very own pond or water fountain. I have spent several late afternoons sitting in a lounge chair, with my little dog Miya lying at my side, relaxing after mowing the lawn or clearing a few weeds in the garden and letting the water fountain soothe my senses. Of all the projects done in my back yard, I must say the pond with the water fountain is my preferred. The project began as a small garden pond that was truly nice to look at but really became my best-loved spot when we added the fountain.

Much of the electric wiring you will have in or around your pond is likely to be low-voltage. Thai is, run at a safe 12 or 24 volts from a transformer. Only the transformer needs be connected to mains electricity; the low-voltage cable, which runs to the pond lights or to a low-voltage pond pump, can then be run along the surface of the ground without posing any danger.

So, a pond liner is guaranteed for 20 to 30 years? I would have to agree with that, as long as you leave it in its box, in the garage, the whole time. Too bad a liner manufacturer's warranty doesn't include damage from gophers, ground squirrels, chipmunks, rats, mice or tree, plant and weed roots.
