The art is very popular throughout the world, also being known as Gung Fu, Wu Shu, and even Kuo Shu. It shares some common traits with Karate, such as using both hand and foot techniques. As a result, you are losing control over your body. While practicing always make sure to keep your back bent outward and chest incurved. Historically, the term "Kung Fu" is not really featured in any ancient texts. It was first coined by a Frenchman named Jean Joseph Marie Amiot, a missionary who lived in the 18th Century, in reference to Chinese martial arts. Kung Fu is also called Gongfu, Wushu, or Kuoshu, and originally denotes expertise in any skill, and not exclusive to martial arts.

Originally called Hark Fu Moon or Black Tiger System, Tiger Claw Kung Fu or Fu Jaw Pai was renamed by First Generation Grand Master, Wong Bil Hong in honour of his master, believed to be a Shaolin monk. At the time, there was Manchurian persecution of the Shaolin order so the name of his master was never revealed. Wong Bil Hong was not eager to share the knowledge he had learned and during his lifetime only ever took on two students. One of which was his nephew Wong Moon Toy who began his training in 1927.

The first determination of whether or not you should do separate weight training is how it will affect your martial arts training. If weight training will take the place of your martial arts training, then I don't recommend it (especially for beginners). Advanced martial arts students can make the determination depending on their personal goals.

Everybody was Kung Fu fighting... except for Chester "Rambo" Zephanic. The boy was clumsy, lazy, and not in my class out of free will. "Come take a karate mat," I instructed him for the second time, as the rest of the class waited for him. He lugged his drooping body to the front and slowly... slowly... walked back. The mat fell on the ground and made a slapping noise on the linoleum floor. Normal people would have calmly lowered themselves on the karate mat, and then proceeded to cross their legs, but not Chester.
