In our modern society disability should no longer be a barrier to learning, to having access to goods, facilities and services, to buying or renting land or property, or to employment. New, technologically enhanced disability products are available for those with physical challenges, making it easier for them to perform activities within the normal range of a person. These products together with an adequately adapted environment can facilitate both passive and active integration into society.

Since 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) has been instrumental in guaranteeing that wheelchair-bound and other mobile assistance device users can enjoy the same freedom of movement and ease of access as those who are able to walk on their own.

What messages do you give yourself about your learning ability? Do you tell yourself that you are a good learner and that learning is fun? Or do you tell yourself that learning is hard and that you're not very bright? Create a positive belief within yourself about your learning ability by using affirmations.

Learning disabled children are represented by all age groups, grade levels and cultures in our society. Parents, guardians and caregivers are in a position where they can be of great assistance if they have the knowledge.
