Once they are certified, loose diamonds go to an independent appraiser, who examines the cut and the fire. Based on these characteristics and taking into consideration current market conditions, these diamonds are given a monetary value. After this, they are put on the market, where professional jewelers purchase them for the creation of diamond rings, necklaces, diamond watches and other pieces.

A Diamond appraisal is basically a clinical process that is 75 per cent objective and scientific, and 25 per cent subjective, being based on personal judgment.

They are rated according to their coloration, ranging room a high quality or low color D to a bright yellow Z, the lowest rating or quality stone. This system is based on natural diamond benchmarks whose color grade is known and whose lighting is carefully controlled.
