Now let's talk about the type of books you want and don't want to have in a homeopathic software. In homeopathy, we have three main categories of books - repertories, materia medicae and books on homeopathic philosophy. Which ones do you need to have in your homeopathic software?

When it comes to actual selection of the homeopathic software, beside homeopathic repertories, materia medicae are considered one of their most important parts. The usual marketing hype aimed at impressing a potential user revolves mainly around the figures - number of books, number of pages, number of authors etc. While the numbers are something that human mind can easily grasp, the conclusions (as to which homeopathic software is „better") based on plain numbers are often misleading.

While homeopathy had been around for more than 200 years, a serious use of homeopathic software is a question of the last 20 years at maximum. Despite the massive advantages of using the homeopathic software, there is still a great number of homeopathic practitioners who don't feel the need to invest their time and money into such kind of fancy.

At the time of writing, homeopathic software is ideally being used as a tool for rapid access to homeopathic repertories and materia medicae, and an evaluation of the data gathered, primarily based on various statistical methods. During the 200+ years of the existence of homeopathy, a substantial amount of data has been gathered and homeopathic software makes this information more accessible, allowing better integration into homeopathic practice.

Some modern homeopaths are exploring the use of more esoteric substances, known as imponderables because they do not originate from a material substance but from electromagnetic or electrical energy presumed to have been captured by direct exposure, Positronium, and Electricitas (electricity) or through the use of a telescope (Polaris). Recent ventures by homeopaths into esoteric substances include Tempesta (thunderstorm), and Berlin wall.

Classical homeopathy is generally defined as a system of medical treatment based on the use of minute quantities of remedies that in larger doses produce effects similar to those of the disease being treated. It is believed that very small doses of a medication could have very powerful healing effects because their potency could be affected by vigorous and methodical shaking. This is referred to this alleged increase in potency by vigorous shaking as dynamization.

As I have demonstrated in my previous article, the use of homeopathic software can greatly facilitate the process of finding the simillimum for the patient's state. I have compared the process of using homeopathic repertories in an electronic form (as in a homeopathic software) against the manual searching of the paper book.

One of the advanced practices in homeopathic software repertorization process involves the use of remedy families. By family I mean any group of homeopathic remedies sharing certain common characteristics. Examples of families would be a family of all flowering plants (named Magnoliophyta in scientific classification), family involving all mammals, or a family that consists of all alkaline metals. The basis of the common trait of the family can be diverse. For instance, you could design a family that involves all purple flowers.
