It is true that first impressions are the most lasting impressions and how a man smells is something that can mean a lot. Women have known this fact for thousands of years and it is only in the past couple of hundred years that men have been taking notice and using fragrances to their benefit. However; over the course of the past decade the science of mens fragrances has advanced by leaps and bounds and now more than ever a man has so much more to chose from in the way of colognes.

For generations, the decision for men as to what they were going to use on their hair was pretty simple. There were a few greasy or gelatinous hair products that they had to select from and that was it. However; over the past three or four decades new products began to appear on the mens hair product market that were the seeds of what was to come in recent years. Now new mens hair products are now are so much more than just sprays and gels to make them smell good and hold their hair in place.

For years, skin care and treatment products were formulated and marketed almost exclusively for women. This meant that men had to either use products designed for womem to treat skin issues such as crow's feet wrinkles and skin color blotches or just go without. The problem with products that are formulated for women's skin is that they are often times buffered down to deal with a woman's sensitive skin, so they often times were ineffective when they were used on the thicker skin of men.

The fact of the matter is that todays young man has far more options in grooming and skin treatment aids than their father ever did. It wasn't that many years back that all was basically available to men was the basic essentials and some cologne to help them to smell good. At one time, mens wedding bands did not even exist. They are a fairly recent phenomenon, having become common only in the past hundred years or so – and for much of that time, consisted of little more than a simple, unadorned gold ring.

Had the great songwriting team of Vincent Youmans, Mack Gordon and Harold Adamson been composing songs about mens watches when they penned the sentimental hit Time On My Hands back in 1930, the title might have been “Time On My Wrist,” for by then, mens watches had emerged from pockets for good, and are today perhaps the most popular and most frequently item of mens jewelry.

When does a ring stop being a man's ring? There seems to be a cross-fertilisation of style when it comes to jewellery.

Most people think of jewelry as a “woman’s thing,” but the fact is that mens jewelry has been a tradition in many cultures throughout the world dating back to the Stone Age.

Times have definitely changed for men over the past couple of decades. This is because more and more men are paying far more attention to their grooming habits then their fathers ever did. One new sign of the times is mens salons that feature a broad range of grooming products designed specifically for men such as skin creams, anti wrinkle lotions and moisturizers.

However effeminate they may have been considered, it was traditionally manly – and hazardous – activities that eventually brought about the existence of mens watches for the wrist. Specifically, these were deep-sea diving, aviation, and tragically, warfare. These early wrist watches for adventurous men, first appearing around 1905, were slow to catch on. However, in time the convenience of these timepieces became apparent, and mens watches jumped out the pockets and on to the wrists of men around the world.

Mens watches are often welcome as gifts - but in some cases, have real symbolism.

Men are now experiencing the highs of wearing jewellery. This light hearted snap guide runs through how different pieces of jewellery can be worn from earrings to necklaces and diamond rings.

Mens Engagement Rings and Wedding rings, go back hundreds of years. They've long stood for faithfulness and love between two people and are devoted on a day of connecting. Before they used metal, mens engagement rings and wedding rings were generally constructed from such things plant life, grass and even hair.

Ironically, it was the pursuit of “manly activities” that led to the development of the first mens wrist watches. In 1905, early aircraft did not have fuel gauges, and the only way to tell how much fuel you had left was to know how much your engine consumed every hour (even today, aircraft fuel economy is described in terms of gallons per hour). In order to keep track, it was necessary to watch the clock – but when it came to the highly unstable aircraft of the early days, taking one’s hands off the controls for even a second was a bad idea. The first mens wrist watches were designed for aviators.

Modern mens wrist watches are more accurate and far more durable than those of a century ago. Today however, they are more than just timepieces; men’s gold watches serve as adornment as well. In fact, mens watches are the one piece of jewelry other than wedding bands that men regularly wear. In addition to retirement, men’s gold watches are excellent gifts for anniversaries and other special occasions.

Mens wedding rings by the craftspeople of the Tacorian family typify the expression “old wine in new bottles.

Take a close look at what some of the A and B list actors are wearing. Whether it's in the movies or off-screen, actors are beginning to wear the odd bit of mens' jewellery. If you've seen the Bond movies, you may have spotted Pierce Brosnan wearing an enviously smart and sporty Omega Seamaster model on three occasions, the last being in Tomorrow Never Dies.

In today's world, there has been a significant development in the jewelry market. More and more men can be seen buying jewelries for themselves. There used to be a time when men bought jewelries for their women folk. But now men are buying jewelries like engagement rings, wedding rings, wedding bands, diamond rings, earrings and many more items for themselves according to their taste and preferences.
