According to economist, Edward Wolff, US minorities will experience the shattering blow of foreclosure this year. Homeownership for blacks and Hispanics in the US is plummeting down to an alarming rate. The high interest rates and mortgage payments are primary factors that interplay in painting this bleak economic picture. In Rhode Islands alone, 50 per cent of Hispanic homeowners are spending 38 per cent of their overall monthly income on home loan payments.

The United States populace is composed of various minorities, like African-Americans, Native Americans, Hispanics, Asians, and Eskimos to name a few. And when it comes to income-generating opportunities, most members of the minorities do not do much. And this fact easily translates as to why many minority members do not have a college degree. College education and college tuition costs are quite expensive.

It is quite challenging for disabled minorities to be accepted in a normal environment. But such view does not stop many disabled persons from getting through college and getting their degree and having a better chance at life.

The Latinos are among the major minorities of the United States and their sector has made a lot of contribution to the society. Still, there are many college students with Hispanic background who drop out of college because they could no longer keep up with the increasing college tuition costs and other expenses to continue their schooling.

Several research findings seem to conclude that there are disparities in health care based on ethnicity of the patients. Now, new reports come out with the indication that minority women are not getting their mammograms done as regularly as desired. Since they also face a higher risk of aggressive breast cancer, this is not a problem that should be treated lightly.

Landing a good job today is highly dependent on two things: your skills and your college education. Although the greatest indicator whether you are qualified for a job or not are your skills, your educational background still says a lot about you. Most employers look at the college education of a person due to a number of reasons. It has been part of every industry's practice to decide whether a certain person should be hired for a certain job by going through his college transcript of records. One reason why this is so is because your college records summarize how well you do in certain fields.

Every type of business, no matter whether big or small, can decrease their chances of acquiring clients due to poor communication. The quality of communication can and will be affected by many factors, and one of these is when you fail to provide the necessary language support that your customer needs. Sure, most customers in North America are English-oriented, but with the vast number of different ethnic minorities throughout the US, chances are that you will one day be faced with a customer who's speaking in another dialect besides English.

I know that diversity has been a big topic of conversation ever since the early 1990s when research supported the demographics that by the year 2000, 85 per cent of the entering workforce would be female, African-American, Asian-American, Latino, or new immigrants. The fact that white males would be a minority entering the workplace was a wake up call for corporate America.

Last week, Harriet Harman announced new equality laws to tackle widespread discrimination. Under these new plans, age discrimination would be removed from all aspects of society, and further changes would be made to prevent workplaces from discriminating against minorities. There is also room for ‘positive action’ that allows business to hire women or minorities without fear of legal action if the candidates are equal in terms of ability.

Education is a mandatory factor for everyone, be it white or people from foreign origin like the Hispanics living in USA. They represent about 12.5 per cent of the total US population and are the fastest growing minority compared to the other ethnic groups. As far as education is concerned this group is not very good. The percentage of Hispanic people who go to college is low. The government grants and scholarship money that are awarded to Hispanic group are very less as compared to the other grants.

Diversity is so much more than race and ethnicity. Take a white person and have him raised by African-American parents, and his culture will be that of African-American. Conversely, a black child raised by Caucasian parents will have a Caucasian culture. And, there is President Obama.

Being the largest minority group in United States, the Hispanic population tends to grow each and every year. Despite their growing number the rate of Hispanics attending college is very low. Thus a number of organization have come together to give forth college grants for Hispanic so that they could meet their need of paying their program fees. By being qualified Hispanics have more opportunities and a better job prospect. It can open new avenues to the life and can make it better in so many ways.

There are many programs that offer free government grants for Latinos. You can apply for free grants for minorities that range from $500.00 to $250,000 or more. Not having money will fetch you over 30 programs and there are 550 programs if you are unemployed.

The rigorous coursework in the Advanced Placement (AP) program has proven to build a good foundation for high school students, who plan to attend college after graduation. Most college and universities give course credit for AP exam scores of three or higher - students score from one to five on the exam. Even students who score one or two on the exam have proven to be better prepared for college-level work, than students who do not participate in the program.
