The neck (cervical spine) is composed of vertebrae that begin in the upper torso and end at the base of the skull. The bony vertebrae along with the ligaments (which are comparable to thick rubber bands) provide stability to the spine. The muscles allow for support and motion. The neck has a significant amount of motion and supports the weight of the head. However, because it is less protected than the rest of the spine, the neck can be vulnerable to injury and disorders that produce pain and restrict motion.

Car manufacturers are not doing enough to help protect against whiplash. Statistics show that in America a rear-end crash occurs every 17 seconds. One of the most common injuries sustained in these types of accidents is whiplash. Whiplash occurs when the force of an impact causes a person’s head to move rapidly forward and then snap back. This action can hyperextend the neck and damage the nerves and ligaments, resulting in ongoing pain and stiffing of the neck. Whiplash can occur even if a crash takes place at low speeds of around ten miles per hour.

Soft tissues, muscles, ligaments and tendons of the neck can be affected by this injury. Whiplash occurs most commonly in car crashes, usually when the car has been hit from behind. Many people who are involved in car accidents underestimate the consequences of a whiplash injury. They do not pursue the matter legally, believing that a whiplash claim will yield very little in the way of compensation, and so is generally seen as a waste of time and resources.

There is often a major misconception that whiplash is ‘only a neck injury’. That is the phrase used by countless numbers of people involved in a car accident or any kind of injury sustained from another field, and the reluctance to file a whiplash claim has often led to a lack of redress for the accident suffered.

Car insurance is essential to protect yourself financially against any injuries you may sustain during a car accident. You may be lucky enough to only suffer a few minor injuries if your car accident is relatively low impact, however these injuries can still have a major impact in your life.

When you think of whiplash, most people immediately think "car accident." But a fall or many types of repetitive movement may also cause whiplash. It may happen when the neck is hurt by sudden acceleration and deceleration movement at a road traffic accident or joints in the back of the neck, joints that usually slide easily over one another, are forced together, causing damage to the nerves, discs, ligaments and muscles all around them. Sometimes the symptoms from whiplash take days or even weeks to manifest themselves, but the damage it causes can last for years.

Anyone can get whiplash injuries in accidents. Getting your insurance company to give you insurance whiplash compensation is possible only when you have all the evidence to prove that you are a victim of the accident and you have nothing to do with the cause of the accident.

As he was pulling out of the station he became distracted by some of his friends and started waving to them.
