One of the newer uses for nerve stimulators is to help reduce chronic pain. Several different approaches have been developed and while most of the pain addressed in muscular or arthritic in nature there are also approaches for everything from headaches to post surgical pain.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is defined as a condition involving numbness, tingling, weakness, pain and/or muscle wasting of the hand along the distribution of the median nerve. This relates to the thenar or thumb-side of the hand.

Pain radiating through the buttock, down the back of the thigh and lower leg, and along the length of the sciatic nerve is the result of irritation to the nerve roots at the origin of the sciatic nerve.

In the human wrist there is a sheath of tough connective tissue which envelopes and protects one nerve, median and tendons. It is attached to the muscles, wrist and hand bones. It is called the carpal tunnel which is the space between the sheath above and the bones below making up the wrist and hand.
