Let's face it, writing a screenplay can be tough. It's a daunting task. Especially if you've never written one before. I'm sure you've been stuck in a darkened theater watching a less than stellar movie and said to yourself, "I can do better than that!" The truth is, you probably can ... if you'd just "get yourself" out of the way.

Hollywood is built on the power of Idea, and thanks to the Internet the "Closed Door" of tinseltown has been kicked wide open for idea-people wanting to pitch the next hit TV show.

Almost everyone thinks they know how to write a screenplay. Weve all heard someone watching TV saying I could write better script than that!

Writing a screenplay is exhaustive and can have many hurdles. One of the most difficult hurdles screenwriters face is breaking out of a creative rut. Here are 7 ways that I've used to break my writers block and get my creative writing back on track.

Free the story trapped in a format indecipherable by most. Have a ghostwriter rewrite the script into a manuscript, ready for self-publishing and self-promoting. Imagine you've inherited the rights to a screenplay. You wouldn't be alone. In fact, it's trending -- understandable since forty thousand plus screenplays were written per year for the last twenty-five years. It was only a matter of time before they were resuscitated as last bequeaths.

Louis Essen was born in 1908 in a small city in England called Nottingham. His childhood was typical of the time and he pursued his education with enjoyment and dedication. At the age of 20 Louis graduated from the University of Nottingham, where he had been studying. It was at this time that his career started to take off, as he was invited to join the NPL, or National Physics Laboratory.

A horror movie has certain rules. If you break too many the audience will be disappointed.

This is a very short, no fluff, blueprint of how to write a horror script.

Years ago at a presentation at the UCLA Extension Writer's Program, I promised an audience to teach them to conquer this beast once and for all. Later, another instructor approached me and said "why did you say that to those people? It's not possible."

Poor woman. All she was saying is that SHE cannot break writer's block, which told me all I need to know about her career. In all likelihood a promising beginning, perhaps an award-winning poem or book... and then pain.
