In the effort to get away from our oil and coal dependency, nuclear energy is getting attention again. Here is an overview of nuclear energy.

A US nuclear company is bidding for lucrative contracts in Cumbria that could result in large numbers of new jobs for the region.

According to the Guardian (Monday March 27, 2006) the overwhelming majority of leaders at last week's European Union summit, including Tony Blair, strongly backed a revival of nuclear power as the answer to Europe's growing dependence on overseas supplies and to combat climate change.

Today, nuclear power is experiencing a rebirth in America as environmental concerns continue to escalate over our country's reliance on coal-powered generators. What many people are starting to realize is that nuclear power is one of the cleanest and most environmentally friendly ways to produce electricity. Surprisingly, it is also becoming one of the cheapest ways to power our country.

Many researchers believe that harnessing the power of the atom in fission reactions is the most significant alternative energy resource that we have, for the fact of the immense power that it can generate. Nuclear power plants are very "clean-burning" and their efficiency is rather staggering. Nuclear power is generated at 80 per cent efficiency, meaning that the energy produced by the fission reactions is almost equal to the energy put into producing the fission reactions in the first place.

Many nations are looking into other energy options to be compliant with green technology as well as ensuring reusable and continual sources for the future. Water and wind as well as nuclear technology have joined the ranks of such energy options.

A proposed plan for China to provide Pakistan with two civilian nuclear plants has prompted intense scrutiny from officials in Washington and Delhi. The deal, to construct two 650-megawatt reactors at Chashma in Punjab, would increase the number of civilian reactors in Pakistan to four, with one previously built reactor already dedicated to military use. Although India and the United States have stopped short of publicly condemning the nuclear trade, both countries made it clear that the transfer must fall under the guidelines of international law.

The Kashiwazaki Kariwa nuclear power plant in Japan discharged approximately 350 gallons of radioactive water into the sea today after an earthquake shook the Japanese town, which is 160 miles northwest of Tokyo.

European nations negotiating with Iran over its suspect nuclear program initially offered the errant nation a free light-water nuclear reactor. The President of Iran, however, responded by becoming predictably irate at what he considered a "colonial" insult and immediately rejected it.

In 1958, Ford has developed a nuclear-powered concept car named Ford Nucleon which has a small nuclear reactor in its trunk. The capsule which has the radioactive core was designed to be interchangeable depending on the car's performance needs. Nucleon was never built and produced however, it is still expected that the same will be distributed in the market.

Today, the main source of power comes from fossil fuels such as petroleum, kerosene, coal, natural gas and propane. We also use nuclear substance like Uranium which helps to generate power.

Investing in uranium is looking toward the future. With fossil fuels fizzling out, the world needs reliable sources of energy. The price of uranium has moved surpisingly fast over the last year with the scare of oil and natural gas shortages. Also, analysts report a severe uranium shortage over the next ten years. Lets take a look at what uranium is and how it is/will be used.

Taking your electrical needs for granted? A new five-year plan announced by the Chinese government may put the reliability of your electrical supply at risk. China may snap up all the available uranium over the next few years. U.S. utilities depend upon uranium to power their nuclear reactors, which provide 20 per cent of your electricity.

China, the world's future superpower, is slated to build four nuclear power plants with the help of the U.S. based Westinghouse Electric Company and the Shaw Group Inc. The value of this deal ranges from $5-8 billion dollars and will help the U.S. in their $202 billion dollar trade deficit with China.

A big upsurge in nuclear power as an alternative energy source promises to make uranium a red hot investment for 2007 and beyond.

Today I read an article in the paper. The headline read"Doomsday Clock Ticks Closer to Midnight". Apparently a prominent group of scientists in 1945 set up this clock to illustrate impending nuclear annihilation. At that time their main concern was nuclear war and midnight symbolized a widespread nuclear conflict. They moved it to 11:55 today. Their concerns have shifted however, more onto Global warming. The dangers posed by climate change are nearly as dire as those posed by nuclear weapons they say. I couldn't help but ponder how the world seems to know something ominous is on the horizon but they don't know exactly what.

There are not only one new energy which is called "solar energy" (usually we use it for solar heaters or solar street lights) as we've known. Here we introduce several new energies in the future. They are wave energy, natural gas hydrate energy, coal-bed gas, micro-organisms and the forth nuclear energy.

Green Web Hosting has become a major consideration over the last couple of years, and due to the already massive and still increasing global energy demands of the IT industry, green energy web hosting is here to stay. Most web hosting as with other business is powered by electricity generated from the traditional power stations, running on coal, oil, gas and nuclear power.
