There's nothing wrong with a bit of obsessiveness when it comes to house-cleaning - after all it is a never-ending task and the benefits are obvious, but some folks take it to the extreme - and there is a point beyond which the obsession is no longer healthy. If you spend an inordinate amount of time cleaning and worrying about cleaning, you may be suffering from Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), a commonly bandied-about term which is often misunderstood but for the ones who do suffer from it, it can become a truly debilitating problem.

To gain control of our actions first we need to face up to the OCD and believe in ourselves that we can fight this fight single handed if need be. I say single handed purely because this battle is one sided (between you and you). Medication is readily available to combat and ease the symptoms but for results you have to work hand in hand with prescribed medicines and listen to medical advisors. This has proven to be successful for many of our fellow sufferers of over compulsive disorder(OCD)

Your panic attack will not stop your breathing! Try holding your breath forever. You canīt do it, eventually your body forces you to take that gulp of air. Think about your panic attacks, did they last forever; did you continue to feel the effects forever? Of course not, your body realized there was no danger and triggered the calming effects of your nervous system.

Progressive Muscle Relaxation or PMR is a great way to loosen tight muscles and relieve stress and anxiety. If you are a panic attack sufferer, this may prove to be an invaluable tool in your arsenal to cope with the worry you may experience. Triggering the relaxation response in your body, can soothe a disturbed and upset mind. 20 minutes a day is all you need to help yourself achieve a greater sense of calm.

Anxiety has a way of crimping our style. Excessive worry makes us avoid certain activities, opportunities, or experiences that may good for us, fun or valuable towards career advancement. Unfortunately, people struggling with panic attacks, often have to let these opportunities pass them by because of the fear of embarrassment, or the very real fear of having an actual attack. By finding outlets for your apprehension, you can reduce the likelihood of suffering an attack and take on new challenges and try new things.

Negative Self Talk is probably the source of a lot of worry and doubt in your life. People, who suffer from panic attacks, anxiety or lack of self confidence, tend to constantly think the worst and imagine the worst. Rather than attacking problems head on, these people think of everything that could possibly go wrong. This type of thinking simply fuels the worry and leads to massive apprehension that can have negative physical and emotional impacts.

Generalized anxiety disorder is a long term generalized feeling of anxiousness that lasts for more than six months but doesnīt have panic attacks, phobias or obsessions attached to it. People, who suffer from generalized anxiety disorder or GAD, often find themselves burdened with a large number of worries and they spend a lot of their time worrying without being able to control it very well.

Panic attacks are scary and first time sufferers should definitely make a trip to the emergency room. It is not a wasted visit! The symptoms that sufferers experience could also be the signs of a serious medical problem. Donīt let embarrassment or fear get in your way, find out whatīs wrong with you.

Anxiety can rear its head in many ways, it can be a slight uneasiness of losing control or something bad happening or it can be a full blown attack where your heart palpitates, youīre are disoriented and you experience extreme terror.
