The resonator guitar, or Dobro, like the electric guitar, is the result of early pioneers of the guitar looking for some way to make their instrument heard above the other instruments in a band. Using metal resonators did not catch on as amplification but the resonator guitar was embraced by slide guitar players for its expressive sound.

If you know how to play a Dobro guitar you have at your command a whole range of notes that you cannot get to without a slide. You can slide into notes which, with that unusual Dobro wail, makes your audience's hair stand on end. When we talk about knowing how to play a Dobro guitar, we are talking about a resonator guitar. The attraction to so-called "Dobro" guitars is the unique tone of the single cone resonator guitar with a wooden body.

Slack key guitar is a fingerpicking style which has been kept well hidden by its most notable exponents. Finding books, records or tutorials on slack key guitar playing is a series of dead ends where recording studios and music publishers have stopped recording and publishing and guitar players who specialize in slack key playing prefer to play for family gatherings rather than look for ways of spreading the word about their art.

When listing a new home for sale I am often asked by my sellers to have an open house for their home. Sellers are poorly educated on the open house process and what the real intention of am open house is. Open houses are designed as a tool for Realtors to show your house to potential buyers, sure but what they are really hoping for are that the buyers out there might choose them to be their list agent or buyer agent. Having an open house is not about selling the actual house you are sitting in, rather appeasing the sellers and trying to prospect for new clients. If the house you are open housing happens to sell, well that is just a positive side affect of the entire process.
