While Parkinson's disease has very distinctive features, it is rather a difficult disease to identify, particularly while it is in its early stages. Unfortunately there are no precise tests, which doctors can do to establish an exact diagnosis of Parkinson's disease and regrettably especially in its early stages it might be mistaken for other diseases. If and when this happens, it delays or prevents the appropriate action being administered in the quickest feasible time.

Parkinson's Disease affects generally elder adults, among about 90 per cent of the known cases are diagnosed in people over the age of 60. Within that population, there is a small amount of variance, with the danger increasing from age 60 through age 75, and then going down sharply. Currently, Parkinson's Disease is known to affect about 3 per cent of the population over the age of 65. With present statistics and the probable aging of the population, authorities think that that percentage will double in the next 40 years.

Stem cells and stem cell research have long been studied to help provide relief of symptoms and potential cures for neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease. The use of adult stem cell therapy has grown in popularity, surpassing even traditional embryonic stem cell research methodology is. Autologous stem cells are those harvested from individual patients suffering from a disease process such as Parkinson's, which do not carry with them the risk of rejection, as do organs or cells transplanted from other individuals into that patient.

Parkinson's disease (Paralysis agitans) as described by James Parkinson in 1817 is characterized by degeneration of central nervous tissues, affecting the motor skills of a person, thereby impairing his (rarely her) movements and speech.

Getting severely depressed after having a stroke is not unusual. When my mother had her first massive stroke and I went to the hospital, tears were flowing down her face and she kept telling me, 'I don't want to live'. My mother was always a very proud, independent woman. She did not want to depend on anyone. She was depressed and very angry.

Children enrolled in fitness-oriented gym classes showed greater loss of body fat, increase in cardiovascular fitness, and improvement in fasting insulin levels.

South American destinations such as Mexico, Ecuador, Argentina and Brazil are joining stem cell research communities around the world in seeking stem cell therapies and treatments for conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's, and Alzheimer's disease.

Many coffee drinkers and non-coffee drinkers alike are aware of the negative conceptions that exist about the beverage. Fears of its diuretic properties, its effect on blood pressure and the question of its addictiveness continue to be unfortunate staples of coffee related discussion. However, new evidence is giving light to some very health positive aspects of drinking coffee, particularly some previously unknown insight into how it can ward off and/or reduce the severity of some major diseases. In this article we will take a look at some of the major ailments that coffee has recently been shown to have significant success in defending us against.

Caffeine's medical use for treating Parkinson's disease is a subject of much debate. However, in my opinion, caffeine cannot help without causing harm. In my book "The Truth about Caffeine" I explain that excessive caffeine ingestion depletes the dopamine somatic cell. While you may ingest caffeine at a reasonable level, as you become more dependent on it, your demand will increase. As with any drug, the body quickly discovers how to render caffeine's effects void, demanding larger quantities to feel any further stimulation.

When Dr. Jose Luis Salgado Ruiz was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease nearly six years ago, he thought his career and his future were over. Parkinson's disease, also known as PD, is a neurodegenerative condition that affects the central nervous system.

One of the most striking observations in the study of human physiology is the dependence of human life on the brain, or the master controller. The brain receives approximately 1200 ml of blood/minute and draws nearly 20 per cent of the total energy.

Cord blood stem cells are commonly used to treat childhood leukemia. In recent years, adults with leukemia have been successfully treated with transplantation of cord blood stem cells from unrelated donors. One case is that of Stephen Sprague who was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML) in 1995.

Getting eight hours of rest, a good diet and taking multivitamins are the best ways to maintain a healthy body. But did people know that drinking coffee is also beneficial because it has antioxidants? This was discovered after researchers did further tests to check if there are any effects of drinking coffee aside from increased alertness. Studies conclude that taking two to three cups daily can prevent various diseases such as Parkinson's disease, depression and the prevention of cavities.

Cholesterol has a bad reputation for hindering your health, but is it deserved? Many researchers and physicians say no. And now there is new evidence to fuel the fire. Studies show that reducing cholesterol may do nothing to prevent death and might even increase the odds of getting Parkinson's disease.

There Is A Lot Of Controversy Regarding A Study That Suggests That Caffeine Can Treat Parkinson's illness. However, in my opinion, caffeine cannot help without causing harm. Most people would be surprised to discover, how high caffeine ingestion cuts down the amount of dopamine nerve cell, well documented in my book, "The Truth About Caffeine". And, even if a person consumes it moderately, sooner or later, he will increase his dosages. When the body gets used to caffeine it cancels its effect, like any drug, needing a growing ingestion to regain its potency.

GABA is the perfect brain tonic because your body makes it itself. However, deficiencies still occur, which is why nutritional supplements of GABA might be needed as part of a multi vitamin mix to promote overall mental health. Find out more in this article
