In many cases, the pond surround is just as important to the overall appearance of the garden as the pond itself and it is important to plan the surround at the same time as the pond, otherwise the end result could be at best incongruous, and at worst, hideous. There are many styles of pond surround available, and I list a few of them below...

Hobby garden as the name suggests is the merely a leisure pursuit and has nothing to do with formal garden. It has a small patio area, which is small enough to accommodate sun-loungers or chairs. Natural stone is used mostly in a paving with random rectangular or crazy paving style. This natural stone is more likely the color of rockery stone, i.e. if the rockery stone is gray then the modern gray sets made of natural stone or from concrete might be laid in a square or rectangular pattern.

This article is about designing a garden, which is a combination of walls and a bank. The backyard area of any house is a perfect sunny place and is best place where the paving is positioned. To achieve a particular shape and angling the steps for the sake of extending the left side of the patio, it is essential to get some carved slabs or any of the square or rectangular paving units. A fountain is installed in a formal pool.

It's no news that the housing market is in trouble. What is good news, and it's not something you hear about from the media, is that Southern California home prices have pretty much stabilized. They didn't crash as some doomsayers predicted and it's not as grim as the news would have you believe.

Should you suspect that you might need to apply for garden planning permission, but you do not apply and obtain the necessary forms and you are found out, you can be fined and a demand will be made to reverse all of the work. This can be extremely costly and time consuming so it is always best to know exactly what is allowed, what is required to do so and how to go about it. The first port of call will be speaking to your local planning team.

Years ago, in most cases patios were just slabs of concrete. There just weren't many creative possibilities at that time. Today however, no matter where you live, you can fashion a stylish garden patio that's an intimate getaway right outside your back door.

A patio can be a wonderful place to relax during the warm days of spring, summer and autumn; or all year if you live in warmer climes. At times when the lawn may be too wet or even muddy, the solid floor of a patio means you can sit outside even after heavy rain and make the most of the fresh air, and visual pleasure of your garden. You can even turn your patio into a patio garden to make it more interesting.

Garden that sloping towards the house has its own advantages and disadvantages. The advantage of having such garden perhaps is that you can view everything in it. However, it has some disadvantages as well, the two more prominent are: in case the slope is steep enough, the house appears to be dark, and the second disadvantage can be of drainage as the water accumulates at the bottom near the house and may cause dampness problem. But the slope in these designs is not that steep, so you need not to take too much account of these disadvantages.

The first step to build a garden edge is to define the borders. If you have a preexisting flower bed, then you already have a border marked. However if you are starting a new bed, you will need to mark the border. If you want curved borders, you can use a garden hose to mark the border. For straight borders, pieces of wood can be used. Once you have placed the hose or wood, you should step back and take a look from as many angles as possible to make sure you like it. You may have to use your imagination for this. Once you've got the temporary border decided, you can use chalk or spray paint to mark the grass.

While edging can add a well-kept look to your garden, the biggest reason to install garden edging for your garden is to keep your lawn out of your flowers. Edging will cut down on weeds and help to keep mulch and fertilizer that you have applied in your garden where it belongs. Edging also provides a barrier so that you don't accidentally destroy your flowers while mowing or trimming your yard.

This article provides a step-by-step guide to themed house construction.

It is quite an interesting thing to design a narrow sloping garden for your house. These gardens are usually partly leveled. As back of the house usually enjoys a good amount of sunlight, but in sloping garden the ground slopes steeply in the garden, so the terrace is usually put at lower level of the garden. This leaves only a narrow area for the paving against the house. The retaining wall in this case should be made a little higher than usual to obscure the patio below when viewed from behind the door. A good number of steps are needed to reach the lower level.
