People who fly on major airlines on a regular basis probably do not realize the amount of work that goes into getting a plane into the air. Flight crews have to clean, refuel, load, and provide maintenance for airplanes after every flight with an eye to tight airline schedules. Pilots are restricted by national and international guidelines as to how long they can fly, which means individual pilots need to be aware of these regulations.

For flight professionals and pilots alike, one of the most important aspects of their professional lives is maintaining proper certification in their job area. Whether it is a flight attendant, mechanic, or First Officer, everyone involved in the daily transit of the public by airplane must maintain a certain level of certification in order to remain airline staff. The problem for many pilots, especially on international airlines or regular international flights, is keeping track of the hodgepodge of certification standards across the world.

Pilots of all experience levels and certification types need to maintain a certain level of health to remain in the aviation industry. After all, the rigors of working long hours at thousands of feet above ground can wear down even the most physically fit individuals. Professionals should maintain a good diet, exercise when possible, and take advantage of breaks to get much needed sleep. However, national aviation bodies not only recommend these measures, they require them for maintenance of certification for flight.

A few years ago opting to become a pilot was one of the best career decisions to make as it offered both prestige and money. However, over the few years the lull in the aviation industry at large has caused the entire framework of lucrative jobs to come crashing down. The high flying career of a pilot has come to a halt and is no longer as cushy as it once was.

Pilots, flight technicians, and others involved in the airline industry need to consider seriously every professional move they make before making a decision. The airline industry has expanded over the years to cover every corner of the globe, with airlines of all sizes carrying passengers and cargo into regional and international airports. However, airline jobs can be tough to break into and finding a position on a solid flight crew can be next to impossible for a professional without a proper plan.

One of the most important aspects of daily life for flight crews around the world is the length of their flights. Charter pilots and crews, along with regional cargo carriers, only need to travel a few hours during their flights. However, these short haul carriers need to take off and land many more times than their long haul colleagues. International airlines, cargo flights for parcel services, and other long haul flights typically only require one flight a day. However, these flights can last beyond ten hours and require flight over oceans and into the night.

There have always been a number of issues with safety and security in the aviation and airline industry, particularly in terms of flight safety. Over the last five years, since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, there has been a particular concentration on developing new ways to ensure the security of flights around the world. It is often difficult for airlines and the federal government to find the right balance between airline security, economic concerns, and meeting the needs of the average traveler.

Training students for commercial pilot license on Cessna 172 for single engine training and Piper Seneca for multi engine training, the flight training schools in India are leaving out no facility for providing world class pilot training to aspiring pilots in India. The in-house facilities of the aviation schools in India are at par with the schools abroad if not better.

Tom Cruise may have made aviators look good when he played the ace fighter pilot in the 1980s classic, "Top Gun", but aviator sunglasses have been around for far longer than Mr. Mission Impossible.

The stark difference between the flying clubs abroad and those in India is not because the Indian schools offer inferior quality. Students that qualify from schools in India have to pass stricter set of qualifying standards than that offered in countries abroad. This one of the primary reasons why, pilots that have qualified from Indian flying clubs are highly regarded in the aviation sector.

Airline, Aviation, and Airport News, Views, and Rumors

Probably one of the most contentious issues of recent times in the aviation community is the proposed changes to the age 60 rule. As most of the readers will be aware, age 60 is a mandatory retirement age for pilots involved in the part 121 airline environment. Representations and pressure groups from both ends of the age spectrum have recently been engaged in open warfare to influence the change in legislation to their specific sides benefit.
