Canoes are extremely popular and one of the most versatile small boats that you can own. There is no question that building your first canoe using canoes plans is a wonderful thing to complete and also its a fantastic achievement. Very few people can separate themselves from being a weekend paddler to that of a craftsman canoe builder.

A canoe trip in Alaska is a great way to enjoy the scenery and catch a few fish. Although canoeing may seem simple, you have to properly prepare before and during your trip. First, you must decide what type of canoe to buy from the sporting goods store.

Many years ago my friend and I hiked into a remote island in Canada, while carrying a fairly heavy fiberglass canoe. It was a three or four mile hike, and took us quite a long time while lugging along the canoe.

Sometimes it's the small details that can make your small business successful. My wife and I travel to Maine often to visit friends and family. There is a chain of gas stations called Blue Canoe (how cute) that are run by the Irving company up there. We almost always (99% of the time) stop at a Blue canoe in Falmouth to gas up, get soft-drinks, and do our business. Why? Immaculate rest-rooms.

When you think of kayaking, you probably do not think of Indiana. If you are in the state, however, kayaking in Indiana may prove to be surprisingly fun. Indiana is not the first state in which you might expect to find water activities or sports. Relatively landlocked, and located in the Midwest away from any coastal areas, Indiana still manages to play host to a number of outdoor activities involving water.

The Quetico Provincial Park is Ontario's rare jewel and a paddler's dream. It is rugged land once covered by glaciers and is awe-inspiring. The glaciers receded leaving behind lakes, bogs, rivers, and rocky cliffs. Over the years many people traveled this vast canoe country including Native Americans, Fur Traders, and Explorers.

Learn what not to do if you're a leader from a recent canoe trip that Eileen took with her husband, Bill. When it comes to fishing, my husband takes the lead. But his lack of leadership ability in a recent canoe trip on the Boundary Waters in Northern Minnesota offered wonderful lessons on how leaders can unknowingly screw up.

How do you currently travel rivers? Do you walk along the bank or maybe travel in a canoe? Both of these ways obviously work, but neither on of them is as good as the way I found recently. It's called an inflatable pontoon boat. They go by different names, but basically they are a personal boat that when deflated can fit in your trunk, and is the best way to travel a river in my opinion. Whether you're fishing, taking pictures, hunting, or just plain relaxing an inflatable pontoon boat works great.

It's true that Minnesota is not the place many people would like to call home. It turns extremely cold in the winter due to its location on the northern edge of the continental United States. No wonder, the geographically large state of Minnesota does not even rank in the top twenty states in terms of population.
