As we grew older, however, there became a noticeable disparity in speed. Some of us were able to devour a book in a day while others find themselves plowing through the same book for a week!

Whether you want to study more efficiently and have more time left over to enjoy yourself, or you simply want to be able to read more books, you'll find that the technique of speed reading is quite indispensable.

Speed reading is an acquired skill. It's not something that can be done by just anyone and it's also not something that can be done anywhere. You won't often see a person holding a book in their hand and speed reading as they are sitting on a park bench or riding on a bus. It requires not only a place of concentration but also a manner of positioning yourself and the book for the best possible results.

After the mid-course break, students were required to write a letter to the main teacher, talking about the independent study they had been doing in the first half of the course, and what they planned to do in the second half. There was no directive to discuss reading habits, but the majority of students included comments on reading. These comments provided an assurance that reading was taking place outside the classroom.

If you find that you need to improve the speed at which you normally read then you should consider speed reading studies which thankfully are readily available as well as very affordable. In fact, speed reading study is especially beneficial to someone that is going to college or even a student at a university who are the most in needs of reading through numerous course books that at normal speeds would keep them staying up all night doing so.

In the last few weeks I have been talking about how beneficial it can be to learn speed reading, that in this world a faster reader will have more time to put into his work and studies and that fast readers have an advantage because they can cover a lot of informational reading material while others struggle to read a sentence here and there.

Learning how to read is something which is a continued cycle for children all the way through to adult hood. At a young age children will firstly learn how to pronounce certain sounds, and then they will become more apt at reading complicated literature as their vocabulary improves and they become more accustomed to interpreting grammar and meaning from the written word.

Advances in technology have greatly increased the tools we can choose from to assist with the improvement of reading skills. Computer games are of particular interest to me because while the child is increasing his or her attentional capacity by playing a video game he is also fine tuning reading specific skills such as comprehension and vocabulary.

If you think only the smart ones can read faster, then guess again. Anyone can improve their reading speed without sacrificing their comprehension skills. Being able to read faster means that you have more information at your disposal. Having this ability will give you a decided edge at any endeavor - especially in school, at work, or even during leisure.
