Sensory receptors on our bodies are responsive to different stimuli and they provide the brain and spinal cord with vital information about our surroundings and our internal environment. By use of different techniques we can learn how the sensory system works and how it affects the motor output from the brain and how it gives the correct information on our external world. The sensory receptors functions as the very first component in sensory system and they respond to specific stimulus modalities. By initiating transduction the sensory receptor responds to the stimulus. This is accomplished by a net shift in the initial states of a receptor.

Cerebral palsy is categorized as a type of neurological disorder that happens because of damage inflicted on the part of the brain that is responsible for controlling the body's motor skills. And while cerebral palsy cannot be completely treated, there are therapies, specialized training and care in order for patients with cerebral palsy to be able to lead an almost normal life. More often than not, most children with cerebral palsy do not suffer mental difficulties and most of them are often highly intelligent and can even attend a regular school.

Does your child refuse to touch anything sticky, slimy, or dirty with his hands? Does washing or brushing your child's hair result in a major battle? Does your child hate to have his feet touched? It could be that your child has a sensory motor integration deficit known as tactile defensiveness or touch sensitivity.

Autistic children and adults often seek pressure in a variety of ways to calm themselves and cope with sensory overload. Oftentimes, hugs and squeezes from other people can cause more distress because autistic children or adults are often unable to communicate their needs by indicating a particular amount or length of pressure. This is both frustrating and ineffective for both the autistic person and whoever is hugging or squeezing them.

Don’t you just wish you knew what other people were thinking? While having extra-sensory perception or ESP seems like a hard-to-master skill, how about something a little more achievable - like reading face expressions? Reading face expressions doesn’t require you to have a certain level of I.Q. or an inborn gift. It only requires you to be patient and observant, something that can easily be done, depending on how much you really want to learn.

This article is the first of a series of articles, focussed on the benefits of hippotherapy in addressing deficits caused by dehabilitating conditions, such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, autism and cerebral palsy.

Most experts agree that most people have extra sensory perception or are able to develop it. Many of us have already experienced ESP. For example: Have you ever gotten the feeling the phone was about to ring...and it does? You are singing a song to yourself when you turn on the radio and the song you are thinking about is playing.

We have always wondered if there really are people in this world capable of predicting the unpredictable. The good news is that there are and that they are able to do this by using their extra-sensory perceptions including clairvoyance and precognition, to reveal certain sides of the human nature and personal life.

Swings are avidly enjoyed by children, as well as the child inside us all. Children especially love the motion of swings, as it allows them to experience the exhilarating feeling of flying. Truly no other piece of playground equipment can capture such a magical experience.Unfortunately, due to some rare and isolated incidents, some communities have deemed swings either unsafe or an inefficient use of space and have expelled them from playgrounds. While as with anything some risks do exist, the benefits of swinging far outweigh any possibility of injuries, especially with properly supervised use.

When you communicate with people, they receive the information using one of five senses - pictures, sounds, feelings, smells and tastes). However, it's crucial to recognize that individuals experience those senses in different proportions. So it's vital to make sure your communication and markeeting reflects those differences.

There is a great quote that goes "Time is God's way of keeping everything from happening at once" and perhaps this is key to our understanding of why things are the way they are. Time is there for us to experience and through that experience, learn and grow. Our limited sensory perception allow us only to experience events one at a time. We then memorise these events and from these memories are able to predict the consequence of certain actions.
