Did you know that In about forty percent of infertile couples, the cause of infertility is due to a factor involving the male partner? Ten percent factors in both the man and woman contribute to infertility. Male infertility may be caused by a number of factors, including problems associated with sperm production, sperm transport, and sperm motility as well as anatomical problems, blockage of the vas deferens (the tube that brings the sperm from the testicle to the urethra), and infection.

Alcohol affects your liver function, which, in turn, causes a dramatic rise in estrogen levels. Even two drinks a day will have long-term effects on sperm production.

Many articles discusses the causes of infertility in women over 40, and women in general but according to the U.S. Health and Human Services' Office on Women's Health, about one-third of infertility is caused by something in the woman, one-third is caused by something in the man, and the remaining one-third is caused by a combination of both or unexplained factors. Much of the focus is placed on the woman's body, whether it is an ovulation issue, blockage in the fallopian tube, or complications with implantation of the fertilized egg, but not much is mentioned on the causes of infertility in men.

Although women stop producing egg cells upon menopause, they are born with all the eggs she will ever need. Men on the other hand, produce sperm cells upon puberty. Consequently, their daily activities may affect the sperm production process.
