When there is a heel spurs at the back of the heel then there is an inflammation of the Achilles tendon (tendinitis) which causes pain and tenderness at the back of the heel. It makes the condition worse while pushing off the ball of the foot. It is associated with the inflammation of the plantar fascia (fasciitis).

Bone spur is a term used to describe a condition that characterizes the growth of an extra bone on the normal bone. In medical terms, it is known as osteophytes. Bone spur usually takes place on the joints of the spine, feet, shoulders, hips, hands and knees. It is not painful but sometimes causes pain when it rubs against other bones around it. It is more common among people above 60 years of age. It is associated with spine degeneration.

A heel spur is a condition where there is an excess deposit of calcium on the calcaneal bone, forming hooks that look like spurs. They can be uncomfortable and painful. People of all ages can have spurs. However, this is most common among middle-aged individuals. If one is suffering from this condition, here are some effective tips and ideas for heel spur treatment.

Heel spurs are abnormal protrusions coming out from the heel. They are caused by an inflammation of ligaments and they can be extremely painful and disturbing. Overworking the tendons in the heel area usually leads to this condition; this is why it affects active persons or sportsmen. In severe cases heel spur can only be removed surgically, but this is nothing easy or pleasant. Most doctors only recommend surgery if nothing else works. There are a couple of home remedies on heel spur that you can try to obtain relief and, although some of them might take a while before becoming effective, they are worth the time and effort.

Most heel pain goes away in a short period of time, either on its own or after treatment. Without treatment the pain will usually spread around the heel. Treatments that are used to reduce heel pain seem to bring only marginal gains over no treatment and control therapies such as stretching exercises. The pain in your heel should go away by itself with time, but until then you might want to seek treatment for the pain. Treatment of heel pain starts with resting the foot.

Plantar Fascia is the tight band of muscle placed beneath the arch of the foot. It is the connecting tissue which holds the arch foot and extends to the forefoot. This inflammation of plantar fascia is the main cause of pain for plantar fasciitis. It is known as one of the most common reasons for heel pain and very commonly known as heel spur. Excessive stretching of plantar fascia causes the heel pain, arch pain and heel spurs.

The term heel spur denotes a hook-like bony growth on the inferior side of the heel bone or calcaneus. It is often related to the inflammation of plantar fascia, a soft tissue structure that joint heel bone to the toe. This condition, known as plantar fasciitis, is frequently seen in sports persons, obese people, and pregnant women. Some other underlying medical diseases, such as osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, degenerative disorders, and poor blood circulation can also lead to the formation of spurs on the heel bone.

The most common form of arthritis affecting people today is osteoarthritis, also known as degenerative joint disease. It is estimated that over 20 million Americans are afflicted with osteoarthritis and it remains the biggest cause of disability among adults. But this number is expected to skyrocket in coming years as the growing numbers of baby boomers retire.
