Here are my useful tips to properly stretch muscle and avoid pain after workout.
You have to remember the three T's, first the Temperature, a warm muscle allows increased muscle length. Time, stretching should take 30 seconds in general and finally, the Tension, you have to stretch your muscle to the point where it is slightly uncomfortable but not painful.

Stretch marks are deep scars, or scar tissue, that appears as stripes on the skin. They are commonly found on the stomach, legs, buttocks, and breasts, but may appear nearly anywhere.

It helps by preparing your body for more strenuous exercise by heating up and stretching out your muscles, increasing your circulation and pulse rate and delivering more oxygen to your muscles.
