In the simplest terms, a guitar tab is a word that is used to describe a musical notation, which may contain either numbers or letters and explains to the musician where to place his/her fingers on the instrument. Guitar tabs consist of multiple lines and is often called a 'staff notation.' These lines, which are present in guitar tabs, each represent one of the guitar strings.
Novice guitar players are always looking for very easy guitar tabs. That's okay as long as you are aware that if you persevere with your guitar playing, your easy guitar tabs will start to get old. When we start off as guitar players we are enthusiastic and we want to learn to play songs right away, from day one. One of the languages of guitar music is tablature, often known simply as guitar tabs. Guitar tabs are quite easy to learn to read compared to conventional musical notation. If you decide to learn to read sheet music it will take a few weeks before you are beginning to make any sense out of it, and possibly a couple of months before you can read it fluently. Guitar tablature simply shows you where to put your fingers on the guitar fretboard.
It is easy to learn guitar tabs. Only one basic idea needs to be understood, the rest falls into place. To illustrate this idea I will be using tabs for a simple piece of music called Peter Gunn. Guitar tabs are seen by learning guitar players as an easy way to start playing guitar right away. That is true but it is wrong to think that guitar tablature just needs to be read. Like all languages it needs to be understood. So if you have an idea that you would like to become a guitar player and tabs would be a great way to sidestep any difficult learning, there are a couple of things you need to get straight.

Many guitar players are using the internet as a quick and easy means of finding free guitar music. The way of finding guitar music that first occurs to most of us is to turn to a search engine. Although search engines are improving all the time we still often get results that duplicate each other or simply lead to sites with music to sell.
Why can't the guitarists who rely on tab to learn music get along with the guitar players who advocate learning music theory and reading conventional music notation? Free guitar chord software is a sought after item. If you feel you must own software that can spit out every chord known to man then why not get it for free? I cannot help wondering how many variations on the basic chords a guitar player needs. If you want to put a little variety into a song or guitar solo then a new fingering for the chords you are using is the obvious answer. In the pre-internet days we had to look through books of chord shapes which were not always readily available. With guitar chord software you can have a world of chords at your fingertips as long as you have your laptop with you.
So you have finally decided to learn to play guitar. Have you decided to learn online or are you going for face to face lessons? Your average guitar teacher will wind up costing you about eighty to one hundred dollars every month. That is just for one lesson per week.
