I hate to sound like one of those cheesy get-rich-quick commercials, but this week I am going to let you in on a little secret that is so powerful that it will immediately change the way you do business. In fact, this little secret is so powerful that you will be amazed at its immediate effect on you, your employees, and your bottom line. This little secret is guaranteed to improve your relationship with current customers and if used wisely, can get you lots of new customers without spending a dime on marketing or advertising.

Someone once said that there are only two things in life that are certain: death and taxes. I would argue that death and taxes are really one and the same, the only difference being that death can only claim you once, while taxes can kill you every year. I die a slow death every April 15th. I'd rather go on a one-way tour of the wreckage of the Titanic in a minisub that has a slow leak than do my taxes.

Do you know what an E-course is? An E-course is an "electronic course" that you receive by email or take at a website. An E-course is the modern day equivalent of the old correspondence course concept. The difference is that instead of taking the course by mail, you do it online or by email. E-courses are one of the best ways to continue your education, especially if you are interested in making money online.

If you're out in the Internet market looking for a web host, then you would have come across loads of ads promising you all sorts of things "' 99 per cent uptime, Fort Knox-like security, customer support that never sleeps, free shopping carts and blah blah and more blah blah.

As the stock market was experiencing its biggest one day drop ever last week, and as many investors watched their portfolios shrivel, I realized two very important things. One, there's nothing sadder than a shriveling portfolio, and two, the stock market could crash like a circus fat lady falling over a lawn chair and it wouldn't affect me in the least. I own no stocks. All my money's tied up in bills. You know, electric bill, phone bill, Visa bill, etc.

Market research is a key ingredient in today's business environment. In this article Tim Knox, an expert on business, gives some sound advice to entrepreneurs about market research that can help make better business decision and make the critical difference between business success and failure.

Form the modest beginnings of the United States History, our national forefathers and greatest national leaders have always advocated the importance of military education. It all started with Col.

It sounds like your wife wants to make a gift of the money, expecting nothing in return but the undying love of her last born son. You, on the other hand, don't know if you should offer the money as a loan (should I loan him the money) or as an investment (worried that my investment will be lost). Until you can make that distinction, your money should remain in the bank.

Why is it that every time I go to the grocery store I get in line behind this rather large woman with four small kids and two buggies of groceries and a clenched fistful of coupons? And why is it that half of the things she's buying require a price check? This happens to me all the time and I swear it's always the same woman.

When the richest man in America meets the world's greatest Elvis impersonator, you know only good things could come of it. Could 'Don't Be Cruel' really become Microsoft's new theme song?

How many times have you looked around your small business and said, "There just isn't enough time in the day to get everything done!" Welcome to the biggest realization you will ever make as a small business owner, my friend: there are only so many hours in the day and there isn't a darn thing you can do about it.

When I was a kid there were five words I heard more than all others combined. Usually coming from my father, they were, "Boy, what were you thinking?" Those words would typically come after he caught me doing something I shouldn’t be or more often, after talking my younger brother into doing something really stupid that could have - but never did - end in his demise.

Anyone out there old enough to remember 'The Omega Man,' the 1971 film starring Charlton Heston as Colonel Robert Neville, the last "normal" man on earth? You remember, everyone else on the planet had been turned into deranged albino-mutants by some kind of deadly moon radiation. It was based on a true story, I think.

Last night, my oldest daughter and I spent a happy hour of quality time sitting on the floor of a cold garage, carving goofy faces on lopsided pumpkins. Actually, I did the carving while she played "Greasy Spoon Waitress From Hell!" with the pumpkin's innards. Guts, she called them.

Last week's column on whether you were required to report income earned from eBay sales to the IRS sparked a number of additional questions and comments from eBay sellers who were hoping that I could somehow validate that their eBay activities were mere hobbies instead of actual businesses and therefore not susceptible to IRS taxation.

With so many people selling on eBay these days this is a question I get all the time. To many eBay sellers the thought of running an actual business is about as appealing as getting negative feedback, so they go out of their way to convince themselves that selling on eBay is really "just a hobby" and therefore, should not be susceptible to income tax laws.

Maybe you weren't aware of it, but one of the requirements of being a good dad is that you must know everything there is to know about everything. Or at least act like you do. And you must always be at the ready to share your vast storehouse of wisdom with your children when they ask, in hopes that they will be able to do a heck of a lot more with it than you have.
