Trans fats are unhealthy. But their replacement may be worse. Are we jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire?

What is a credit score and how is it determined? Let's start from the beginning. There are three credit repositories that track and report all credit related information: Equifax, Trans Union and Experian. Creditors report credit related information to credit bureaus. Credit bureaus then pass the information on to the credit repositories that document and transfer the information to your credit report.

Trans fats not only raise total cholesterol levels, they also deplete good cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein or HDL) which helps protect against heart disease. Due to hydrogenation, trans fats are stiffer and harder than other fats as they are made more solid. The stiffer and harder fats are, the more they clog up your arteries.

If you are like many people, you either have bad credit or had bad credit at some point in your lifetime. The sad fact is most people are not educated about credit and their rights. America is filled with misconceptions, due to spin of the facts from both sides of the aisle. In reality, consumers become the prey from both credit repair companies and credit reporting agencies like Equifax, Experian and Trans Union.

As per the Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act 2003, the top credit bureaus Equifax, Experian, and Trans Union offer online credit repots that too free. Credit reports are crucial for two reasons. Firstly, you can make out any error in your credit history and take effective measures within due time. Such an error may fetch you poor credit, which would contract your chances of finding financial aid in the near future at decent rates.

Should we regulate the amount of trans fats contained in the food we eat? A Canadian government task force on trans fats is recommending that all vegetable oils and spreadable margarines have the trans fat content limited to 2 per cent of the total fat content and all other foods be limited to a maximum of 5 per cent of total fat content. These new regulations would decrease the average trans fat intake by at least 55 per cent.

The three main credit bureaus, Experian, Trans Union, and Equifax, have finally come up with a unified credit scoring system. It is supposed to simplify credit scoring, but so far, not everyone gets it.

In 1950s and 1960s, trans fat was hailed as a healthy replacement for saturated fat in butter and animal fat. It was also used because of its ability to extend shelf life for products. 30 years later, why it is now crowned as a bad stuff that could shorten life for those who eat it?

It is not only the famous actors who acquire a star status because of movies, some times the cars too get stellar status because of the movies. In almost all the James Bond movies cars are stars in their own right. Firebird Trans Am made by Pontiac too had acquired star status by appearing in a movie which was not a James Bond movie but was a very popular movie nevertheless. It is a sports coupe. It should not, however, be assumed that its popularity is only due to its debut in a movie. The buyers have appreciated its mechanical reliability, enough luggage space, easy and capable handling.
