It's a good idea to make the time to check your insurance policy, or call your insurance agent, to ensure you have enough coverage in case you are involved in an accident. You certainly don't want to learn that you don't have sufficient coverage after the fact, when it's too late. As an accident lawyer specializing in personal injury, it's not uncommon in my practice to be limited as to what I can do for a client and only because of insurance coverage issues.

Uninsured drivers are ten times more likely to drink and drive and three times more likely to be convicted of driving without due care and attention. They also cause one accident every six months. In fact one in twenty motorists regularly drive without insurance. It's therefore not perhaps surprising that, one in ten of all motorists have been involved in accidents with uninsured drivers. The question is what to do if you're involved in an accident with one?

We have all heard the numbers by now; 46 million people in this country are uninsured. This is a disturbing number, but it’s important to understand who these people are and why they are uninsured. Medicare and Medicaid are government programs that have been set up to take care of many of these people, but not all of them. Government programs take money from the taxpayers and use it to cover the uninsured, but the more government intervenes; the more expensive healthcare gets for all of us.

Every year when the renewal documents for your car insurance come through, most people may begrudge having to pay out a lump sum especially those who have clean no claims histories.
