No matter what anyone says, verbal abuse is still abuse. Sadly, people are all too ready to dismiss it as if it were nothing; hence, there aren't enough discussions on how to stop verbal abuse. But when somebody calls you names or screams at you for no apparent reason, that's abuse. When a person bullies you at work or taunts you incessantly, that's abuse.

I don't understand this stuff about non-verbal language. I say what I mean - how does the way I say it make a difference? An article in Discover magazine on how we recognize faces said that we have such powerful brain "circuitry" for facial expressions that we insist on seeing faces where there are none - in clouds or in the wallpaper pattern.

You are probably used to the kind of flirting that is non verbal. The truth is, non verbal flirting comes so naturally and is easy to execute. Having said this, it is vital to mention that you need to have both types of flirting because they go hand in hand. Verbal flirting can even prove to work faster rather than having to wait and observe body movement.

It started with the subtle digs, disguised as jokes. You have a pretty good sense of humor so in the beginning you took it in stride. My sisters and I used to play the Biography game when we were younger. We would go to the airport to watch all the people coming and going and make up stories about who they were, where they were going to or coming from, what they did for a living, what their families were like, what interesting little secret they were hiding, etc. We inferred all of this just by looking at them, and we evaluated each other's biographies on a pass / fail basis, and of course for creativity!
